I’ve had a good start to today, getting up earlier than usual, going for a 45 minute walk (1.5 miles) and having porridge for breakfast (no salt or sugar but I do like cream!). However one of the big issues I have is disappointing myself. I have often been at this stage and, at most, manage to keep it up until about Day 3. This time I’m at my heaviest ever: 15 stone, Waist of 43 inches, BMI of 35. You’d think that would be enough to keep myself into getting myself sorted out, but I’ve been here when I was at my previous heaviest: 14 stone, waist of 38 inches, BMI of 33.
Getting my body sorted out is one thing. Getting my mind sorted out appears to be the biggest stumbling block. I’d like to think that this time I won’t disappoint myself but ... It’s easy to say, ‘well you’re not going to get very far with an attitude like that’ but how do I actually change my attitude? I’ve just weaned myself off fluoxetine and 7 days after my last tablet I’m already feeling myself slowly spiralling downwards.

Hello, AlisonStobart, do you weigh in on a weighing in day? I have found this very supportive, even if you've stayed the same or put on, people are very supportive.
Do you plan your meals? I didn't used to plan, I used to wait until I was really hungry and then eat the first thing that came to hand. Since coming to this website I've realised planning is very important, and also eating often enough , food you enjoy.
We are all different and I can only suggest things that have worked for me.
Hi AlisonStobart, you have made a start that is a big step. I am fairly new, 4 weeks in, and I have found this forum very very helpful. Just a thought, you mention your mind set, have you read The Chimp Paradox by Prof Steve Peters? If not, give it a go, it's not specifically about weight loss but it helps you see why you do stuff.
