I've battled with my weight for most of my life. I am now 19st 7lb and absolutely fed up of it. I get tired easily and don't have a lot of energy. I'm a single parent, with 3 wonderful teenagers who are my world. I have a brilliant job working in local government which takes up most of my time. I separated from my husband just over 3 years ago and I threw myself into my work which has reaped rewards financially but left very little time for 'me'. I can't remember the last time I had a holiday and in a way I suppose I've consoled myself with food. Having considered joining the usual slimming clubs which I've done before with varying success, this time I decided to seek out some online resources. It's not like I don't know what I should be doing......it's trying to stop myself from doing what I shouldn't be doing that's the issue. Day 1 starts here!
Day 1: I've battled with my weight for... - Weight Loss Support
Day 1
Hi WendyEJ,
Welcome to the forum. I think it's great that you've come to seek out some online resources, as there are certainly plenty out there. This forum is a friendly and supportive place, and I hope you'll enjoy being part of it.
I can recommend the NHS 12 week plan as a good structure, with lots of sensible and useful information - you can read it if you click on this link:
nhs.uk/Livewell/weight-loss...
I do a weekly weigh-in thread on a Monday, which is entitled "Please Join Me for a Monday Weigh-in (current date in brackets)" so if you like the idea of a weekly weigh-in, you'd be very welcome to join us there! I know it's not everyone's cup of tea - but I think it is a really enthusiastic group of lovely people.
Anyway, I just wanted to wish you every success with your weight-loss journey, and hope that you'll achieve your goals. I can recommend an app called 'Myfitnesspal' which is useful to calculate daily calories and also log exercise etc, and is helpful alongside the NHS 12 week plan.
Good luck! Hope to see you around and about in the forum.
Lowcal
Thanks Lowcal. I printed off the NHS 12 week plan before I arrived here and I've used 'Myfitnesspal' before. Definitely a useful tool for keeping tabs on your calories. Hopefully I'll be in the right mindset this time to succeed.
Hi Lowcal
Where do I find your weekly weigh in thread?
X
Hi Beccylove,
Here is a link to the most recent Monday thread (i.e. 10th August), but there is a new one every Monday - I usually post it before 7am on a Monday, and the title is always the same i.e. "Please Join Me for a Monday Weigh-in" (current date follows in brackets) - so you can look out for the thread on Monday morning, with the date 17th August (tomorrow).

But that is last Monday's thread, if you want to have a read to see how everyone was getting on.
Good luck!
Lowcal
Welcome to the site it is really supportive and helful.
It sounds like you are now in a place where you can have sometime for you.
Posting is really useful as you can share everything both good and bad.
Have a wonderful weekend and remember be kind to yourself you really deserve it.
Onwards and upwards.
Yes welcome I second everything Lowcal and Jo say. You will find lots of support and encouragement here. Weigh in. Choose your strategy. Set an achievable short term goal ( ie 1 stone or a healthy bmi, or getting back into a certain dress size) promise yourself a non food treat on reaching your first mini goal. Then keep going setting new mini goals along the way.
Love yourself enough to get healthier. We often use food as a reward or a solace but when we are trying to battle our weight it is better to realise that we should love ourselves by putting things in our mouths that will help us reach a healthy weight.
That being said don't deprive yourself but balance your overall intake.
Hope you enjoy this forum .I have come to really value it .
Hi Wendy
I joined this forum a week ago and it's been great. Sounds like it's time for you, because you deserve to be healthy. Time to give yourself some attention....
Hi Wendy . Welcome to the site and good luck in the search for renewed health and energy. For me this site has proved to be the game changer and I hope it is a great support for you as well. All the best 💐💐
Thanks for all the positive and supportive comments. I look forward to taking active part in the forum and hopefully return the favour.
Good luck Wendy. As you say, it's time for you now!
Wendy that is fantastic - good for you! YOu sound exactly like I did 2 weeks ago and I have been slaying it
I haven't read the other answers but I am sure they would have mentioned the Myfitnesspal app (GET IT!) and I also use a Fitbit which talks to MFP so I always know exactly what calories I have burned, eaten and can eat.
It makes it a lot less thinking I have to do!
Great to have you here.
Well Wendy l want to wish you all the best and to let you know that you will get all the support you need from your new friends on health unlocked.good luck.
Hi Wendy and welcome to our little forum. It is a great place for inspiration, advice an support.
I have nearly 2 stone on you but lost over 3 so far so it can be done!
Life certainly does get in the way of looking after your health - I have been through many years of turmoil and was just never in the right place to focus on weight loss but I am finally there.
I wish you all the best, give yourself time to adjust and don't beat yourself up if you have the odd slip just get back on track and the lbs will come off.
Looking forward to seeing your first loss post
