Maintaining weight loss
Good morning and welcome, alli74x
You've come to the right place as we have a Manitainers' Club for that very purpose. It runs monthly with a new post on the first Sunday of each month and you're very welcome to join in. Everything on the forum is about mutual support so please read what others are posting and give some encouragement. Here's the link healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
I'll also give you our Welcome post, so you can explore all the other activities around the forum. You may like to post your meals plans on the Daily Diary: it's very interactive and there are some maintainers there, as well as some still losing healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Wishing you well with this next, vital stage in your journey
Got to admit it can be tough! I was doing great for about 8 months then put 7-8lb back on during a month away! But at least I feel back in control now, in the past Iβd have just eaten my way up at least 1.5st! I think most people have succeeded by gradually adding healthy food to their everyday plan til they are staying the same every week. My biggest tip is think of anything sugary as an occasional treat, not an every day staple.
Congrats on reaching your goal weight, alli74x !
To maintain, I stuck to reasonably healthy food and only at mealtimes - no snacks outside of meals.
However I have had to keep a very close eye - in particular, have been on holiday recently twice in quick succession, couldn't always stick to what I would have eaten at home, put on a few pounds both times, I had to go back to strict calorie counting (and a food diary!) to shift it. My thinking is, is was quite an effort to lose the weight in the first place, I am not going back there! I much prefer being slim.
I have found the Daily Diary and the Maintainers Club very helpful indeed, hope to see you around there.
Hello and congratulations on reaching your target weight and welcome to the Maintainers Club. I agree with you that loosing weight is easier than maintaining since there is a lot more information and guidance out there for loosing weight than maintaining. I used calorie counting to loose weight and I still do. if you look for my last post which was Wednesday this week you will find a link to a website which helped me work out how much to increase my calories by but its important to increase it over a month or two period. However the link will only be of use if you count your calories if you use other methods then its gradually increasing what you eat and seeing what happens though members who used different methods fir loosing weight will be able to offer their advice based on their own experiences.
What I would recommend is have a buffer zone of 2-4lbs or 1-2kgs since weight fluctuates and the important thing is not to get too fixated on being at your target weight. Its a new way of life now not a diet and its learning how to get the balance right. Don't get too upset if you fall off the wagon so too speak everyone does no matter how long they have been a maintainer- I count myself in that group The important thing is learning what triggered it and finding a way of reducing the likelihood of it happening again
Thank you so much ππ
