Slimming World

I joined slimming world in July 2017 and since then have lost over 3 stone which I am so pleased about. I love the plan as I think it is very sustainable and unrestrictive. I'd love to know what others thoughts are on the plan :)

Hi and welcome, Kaf_95 :)

There are many different plans being followed by our members, of which the SW plan is one.

I, personally, find the concept of 'free' foods, syns, a £10 joining fee, followed by £5/week and the promotion of processed meals, difficult to come to terms with.

Follow this link to our chat thread and a list of all the activities we run. We've found active participation to be key to success, especially with our weigh-ins and Daily Diary

Hi Kaf_95

I tried SW a couple of times but unfortunately couldn’t keep the weight off. Having said that I would always go back to it as I thought, there is so little to count.

However, the only thing missing in SW is the importance of fats, I think. They keep you full and you don’t want to snack.

I followed the Keto diet for a while and it was amazing. The feeling of not needing snacks was out of this world. Had to stop, though. Shouldn’t have dairy (intolerance)

It’s seems like you are doing great with it. That just shows, there is no perfect diet, just need to find the one which works best for you.

Just keep doing what you are doing. 🧿

I don't like the idea of any food being described as "syns" - not creating a positive attitude to food, in my opinion.

There was a post about this recently: here's the link healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

I did lose weight on slimming world about 10 years ago but i found myself feeling bloated quite a lot as I just ate loads of carbs, I did mostly green days (dont know if they still do that green and red thing). I really missed dairy though, and I didnt like calling food 'sins'. I have come to really like calorie counting as I can essentially eat whatever I like - which suits me well as we have lots of meals with friends and I can be flexible. Recently I'm giving keto a try and I really like feeling so full, its wonderful. Though long term I will go back to a more moderate low carb as its not flexible enough for my lifestyle.

Whatever is working for you, is the way to go! SW is clearly working for you right now so roll with it! And if you ever fancy a change then there's plenty of ideas here!
