Hi everyone, I'm trying to lose weight, my big issue is having the energy and the will power to get up and do any exercise. I don't sleep well at night so it drains my energy for the day. Please help. 😊

Hello, norfolkgal2406, and welcome to the forum 😊
By far the most important in losing weight is what goes into our mouths so, from that pint of view, limited exercise isn't going to be a big barrier. Exercise has lots of benefits in itself, though, for our physical and mental wellbeing, so have a think about how you can do a little more next week than this week, then a little more the following week ..... Walking is brilliant exercise and free!

Hello norfolkgal and welcome
It's hard to get motivation to exercise but why not try a walk every day ? You can please yourself when you decide to turn round and come back and I'm sure you will build it up and get to enjoy it It will help with your sleeping too
I lost weight when I was completely immobile due to waiting for a hip replacement so don't despair
Good luck ☺️
Hi there norfolkgal2406, what a shame you don't sleep very well. I just wondered if you had pinpointed a reason for this? My hubbie didn't sleep well for ages and then started drinking green tea instead of his regular black tea. He sleeps so much better now and although we didn't realise it, the cause of his bad sleeping was actually indigestion caused by an intolerance to lactose. I'm not suggesting this is a remedy for you, just pointing out that it is often something unexpected that causes bad sleep. Re the exercise thing, I am a big believer in walking, I think it helps to get out and get fresh air if you can. Have you tried using a step counter/pedometer (you can get these off amazon for under £5) - I found these brilliant to gradually increase my steps!
I thought I had sleep problems, but I concluded that I was trying to get too much sleep - so now I go to bed later.
Restricting calories suppresses the metabolism - have you lacked energy since you started trying to lose weight?
"Not eating all day" AKA "Intermittent Fasting" stimulates the metabolism, see my post on the Fasting and Furious forum:
