Hi I'm Heidi, 40 and need to lose 6.5 stone to be in the healthy BMi range. I have been going to slimming world and am back at the weight was when I started. Before this I was a member of weight watchers for a year and by the end of the year I'd put all my list weight on plus more. I really want to succeed as I'm so unhappy about my size. My problem is chocolate, large portion sizes and no exercise.

Write a brief note to introduce yourself to other newbies and I'm sure you'll be making friends, in no time.
Good luck with your first week.
Thankyou yellowroses55, I'm trying to work my way round this site. I can't find the newbie club.
It sounds like you and I have all the same weaknesses! As far as exercise goes, just start walking! Doesn’t have to be fast or far at first, just moving will help..
Sorry if this seems patronising at all, but have you used a food diary like my fitness pal? Putting in all my food made me realise how huge some of my portions were, and made me change. Also, at the start of my journey, some of my meals looked small. Not all of them, but some of them I looked at and thought well that won’t fill me up - but it does, and it’s really plenty, just compared to before it’s not as much.
Welcome Tidmarsh. I have a real problem with exercise but since I started from zero, I tell myself any activity is progress! I'm just setting myself some targets of getting off my behind and having short walks.
I have done weight watchers in the past but not slimming world. I'm following the NHS 12 week plan and I've found calorie counting is giving me a real focus. I also think it is re-educating me I'm hoping it will be built in by the end of the 12 weeks.
All the best with this. Be kind to yourself and give yourself credit for each step in the right direction. If you join a weekly weigh-in, you'll get lots of encouragement
Welcome, Heidi! You've identified your problem areas that's half the battle. Now don't try to fight them all at once, but make small changes that you can sustain. So, for this week, what are you going to do? Maybe use smaller plates and cut down the portion sizes? Or not get any chocolate in? Best of luck.
Welcome. I am a chocolate alcoholic as well. I had to stop and get rid of sugary things. I am starting to feel better. Thank goodness. I also started to walk even an 1/2 hour. Gets me out in the fresh air. You can do this and do not quit. Keep going when you do not feel like it. Best wishes on your journey!!
Walking is so good for mind and body, i find walking in the rain invigorating and as your mind wanders it offers time to think about things that are bothering you and how to move forward. We have had two days of constant rain and each day I have enjoyed I wander, I hope you find it enjoyable too! Go for it!
Hi Heidi, I have the same problem. I can't resist chocolate either and also tend to eat large portions. Calorie counting has helped me quite a lot so far and I also try to work out with my friend regularly!
The thing is, it has to be a lifestyle change. You can NOT get to goal weight and think, ahhh, I've done it, now I can go back to eating what I want!! NOPE!!! This will do you no good at all, this is the reason why we all got into this mess in the 1st place. When you reach goal weight you must keep watching your portion sizes and the amount of the sweet stuff we all crave. (It has a nasty habit of creeping up before you even realise it) Be prepared to be in this for LIFE!! Else you will be forever a Yo-Yo dieter and that's got to be worse than staying big! Good luck on your journey. You will find tons of support and encouragement here. You CAN do it! You have done it twice already. Here, however, you will get all the support even after you have shed the lbs which will help you stay on track.
