Feel like an absolute failure. I’ve been trying to lose 20kg for so long now but it just isn’t happening. Today I restart my healthy eating and exercise (AGAIN) and just praying that I can do this.

Hey Tanya-T, sorry to hear you´re struggling. What´s keeping you from losing weight? Is it that your body doesn´t react the way you´d expect or are you having trouble sticking to the plans you make? Do you go off track when you´re stressed? Bored? Anxious? Frustrated? Exhausted? If you know and fix the underlying problem it´s more likely you´ll be able to make long-term changes.
Good luck your in the right place! Like has been said navigate around the forum and start a daily eating and exercise plan if you plan to exercise - anything counts! Get involved too there is lots of support here and there are lots of good meal ideas on the daily thread and posts on here too. Like shot glass said finding the root cause of your overeating if it is emotionally triggered or not can be a really good start to your weight loss as you can then look to replace eating with exercise or a new fun hobby?

I am new to this site, and restarted that many times it feels incredible. I know recording what I eat helps - other than that small steps like drinking more water or a lunchtime walk have the greatest success for me.
I hope you find what works for you in a sustainable way.
My tips are to firstly stop with negative self talk you're not a failure be kind to yourself, secondly looking at it was 20kg to loose maybe a bit daunting why not split it down say your first goal is to loose for example 4kg in two months, that way the goal is specific measurable achievable realistic and time bound
SMART eh! (once you've completed that then set yourself a new smart goal).
Also what moreless said it great idea, I myselve am trying to be more involved in the forum x

Hi Tanya-T, I've been struggling too but kind folk here have picked me up and got me going again. I followed the NHS BMI checker and am aiming to lose 9lb as a start. Hoping that the smaller target will keep me motivated. Hope that works for you too - and you get moving onwards and downwards again.

Welcome Tanya-T! This is the right place to be. What have you been struggling with? sticking to the diet? exercising? Don't give up even if you have to start over and over again. I am on the same boat (need to loose same amount of weight) and signed up about 1 week ago. My first week has been full of ups and downs so heres hoping for a more consistent second week.
