A recent beach holiday photo has me cringing big time ! I’ve had a painful osteoarthritis foot for a couple of years, and walking is painful, so I have put on some weight and tone up, especially buttocks, thighs to knees and stomach. I would like to lose about 2 stone, but as I’ve never had to diet before. I’m feeling overwhelmed and panicky as to where to start. I’ve never had to count calories, and don’t knw how to.
I don’t know how to tone up, because of painful foot. I can’t swim.
Need help, advice, and encouragement.

You don't want to start dieting, you want to aim for a healthy lifestyle. My osteoarthritis improved greatly, when I went on a low carb way of eating phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...
I have also had problems with my feet, but you could cycle and do various strength exercises, that would be too hard on your feet. nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/s...

Hi Dancegirl and welcome to the forum. Exercising with health issues can be difficult but maybe you could get a referral for physiotherapy to help you get on track with that part of your goals?
The good news is that most of weightloss happens in the kitchen. Have a good look at what you´re eating right now and see if there´s anything you could change easily. Do you eat sweets and desserts? Switching them for a piece of fruit could be a great start. How big are your portions? Could you switch your dinner plates for smaller ones? Increase your veg portions while reducing the white bread/white pasta/white rice portions?
Counting calories can be very helpful, especially if you have little experience with what "normal" eating looks like, but often little changes can make a big difference.
Best of luck and keep coming round here for motivation!
Hi Dance Girl Welcome to this community site. I am sorry to hear about your painful foot .. not easy mentally to deal with this. I am sure some of the lovely people on this site will have ideas on exercise. With weight loss they say what we eat is more important than exercise so the tips on this site are very useful. Maybe work on positivity in your self as well. Wish you the best of luck on your journey.
