Feeling down :(

ReluctantRunner1983 profile image

I had been doing really well and surprised at how much I was enjoying running. Got to week three, just about to start week four then boom! Caught my foot walking off a curb and tore a tendon, swollen and bruised foot :( I haven't run for nearly a week and starting to feel a bit of cabin fever. As soon as I can I'll be running again but at the moment im just feeling a bit useless

Ooh that looks sore. Hope it heals soon and you can get back to running.

Ouch! That looks painful. You couldn’t possibly run on that. Feet up! Or maybe get a mat out on the floor and do some core exercises for strength and stability. It will improve your running and reduce your risk of injury.

Ow, that sucks! Torn tendons take a while to heal, too. Assuming your doctor/physiotherapist allows it, could you perhaps borrow an exercise bike for a couple of weeks to stay active while healing? Many people have one collecting dust somewhere and wouldn´t mind lending it out for a while.

Make sure you give it time to heal and do strengthening exercises before going back to running. I've gone back to training before to soon and ended up with injuring it more and being out of action for a lot longer in the end.

Have you seen a physio?

Hope you find an alternative to do in the mean time to stop you getting bored.

What an absolute nuisance and you were walking too! I run very. Slowly because I’m fearful of injury.

Hope you get back to it soon. In the meantime try some yoga or Pilates to keep that blood flowing. There’s plenty you can do without putting strain on your foot. Good luck

Oh you poor thing! Looks painful, and annoying for you as that will need a decent rest. Try to stay positive and use the healthy time. Mental strength required now. Meditation? Good luck!

Ouch ouch ouch. I think you should rest that RR. It will get better quicker. You’ll soon get back to running. It’s too cold out there at the moment anyway. Good luck.
