Friday 1st of Feb - Trying to get myself motivated to go out for a walk later but the weather is definitely putting me off, cold frosty. Try to challenge myself to get to at least 6000 steps a day. Some days very good some days not so. Do any of you have any motivational tips?

I don't count steps but I am trying to be more active. So for me I use the car as little as possible and walk instead. It's amazing how much walking I end i up doing. I have also planned a 30min walk which I can do from home that takes me to a lovely park with a small lake and lots of wild life. For me I need a reason to walk rather than just walking anywhere.
I have no motivational tips lol but I know what you mean about the cold weather putting you off, I have missed my evening walk for the last two nights and we haven't even had any snow !! but has I'm typing this I realise its not helping me with my healthy eating/lifestyle so tonight come what may I will be walking, and moaning whilst doing it no doubt, but you have my word I'm going for a walk, hope that helps a little knowing i'm in the same boat as you, this healthy eating/lifestyle isn't an easy thing to just jump into it will take us time, we will get there

Quite a powerful message - thanks for sharing - maybe I can make the extra effort needed when the consequences of not doing so are highlighted.
Hey Galaxy55, I find the frost cold but beautiful and it makes the usual route a bit more interesting. I was out on Wednesday evening wrapped up toasty warm - 100 layers, hat etc. and it was beautiful till I realised I should have put thicker socks on and thought my toes had fallen off (they hadn't - I found them later). Oh well. Maybe put your outdoor gear on the radiator so you can look forward to a warm clothing cuddle before you go?? (and don't forget the thick socks!!). Let me know if you make it out and I will do likewise.
Made it out and soon warmed up even though it was freezing walked for about 1.5 hrs so pleased with that approx 8500 steps. How did you get on?
Yayyyyy!!! Glad you found the motivation to do it, I've just got back, walked for an hour and 20 mins so I'm pleased with that, even queued at the chippy with my other half who's now stuffing his face lol!!!!!! My willpower must be through the roof tonight I didn't want any
I shall have a cheese salad sandwich and my pot of strawberries and grapes
Wow - you 2 are hardcore - over an hour - brilliant!! I got out for 38 minutes and was pleased (and warmer this time). Counting the minutes? Moi??
Soon got warm - today only 30 mins real walking although was out for longer just hoping it pays off when I get on the scales this week.
Well done you, keep up the good work
Not been for my walk yet, been ironing for over an hour, I will go though but it will be a short walk tonight, its been a non stop sort of day lol!!
Mine will be a shorter walk tonight, but a walk non the less, thats what its all about no matter how long I'm sooo pleased thats others are posting about making the effort it really spurs me on
Just about to set out for a walk with my little boy following a challenging morning - he went to a pizza making Birthday party at Pizza Express. It was pure torture! Anyway, he now needs to burn off pizza, cake and ice-cream so I get a walk as the side effect. Great to feel we've got a little walking group here going
I remember those days never been to a pizza making birthday party. Managed to get out this morning very fresh but blue sky and bright sunshine quite enjoyed the walk and walked for an hour. Hope the walk tires out your little boy then you may get a minute or two of peace.
It was my first pizza party too (kids of today etc etc). Blue sky and sunshine here too - bit fresh into the wind (resulting in a bit of moaning - not me!) and also managed an hour. You are getting some good long moves in Galaxy55!!
Over the last few months I have done a lot of walking in near-freezing conditions...
I wear enough warm clothing... and walk briskly enough to keep warm...
I was disabled for years, and, when I was first able to walk, I was not fit enough to walk briskly.
Breaking a leg would not help - and all the pavements here are covered in snow today!
I can usually manage average 5km a day (when not ill) by going long way round to the shop / carpark from home and parking away from where I need to go when out. I need decent weather to do "proper" enjoyable walks - cold wind in particular does my head in (and the rest of me!)
