As there's an assumption that drinking [red] wine is a No No I'd love to have your views on this question as it's my EOD treat.

I don’t like red wine, prefer G&T, but as any changes made have to be sustainable I don’t think we need to give up anything we enjoy. On the other hand, only you can decide how to ‘spend’ your calories allocation 😊

There was a diet plan on this weeks episode of How To Lose Weight Well (Channel 4) that allowed 1 glass of red wine with each evening meal!!

The girl on the plan lost weight over a period of time .... so it can be included in a balanced diet. A bottle a night might not be the same though!! LOL :)

Hi

I am fond of a glass of red wine myself. I have cut down, but I still enjoy a couple of glasses a week. It does run away with the calories though, but as long as you take that into account you are fine. There is no point in giving up everything you enjoy, you need to be able to sustain it.

I think it's good to keep something in your diet that you really enjoy as long as it is included in your calorie count. I love mcvities chocolate digestives so 2 of those with coffee in the evening is the treat I look forward to. However if I have cheated on my diet in the day I don't have the biscuits later

Red wine is my weekness and my husband and I used to share a bottle three night a week minimum could be every night if we were feeling stressed. We have cut it to a maximum of two night a week but don't always bother with that much as we have discovered we both sleep better now we have got used to drinking less. I have no intention of giving it up all together.

Darling, a glass of red wine is a kind of liquid food (look up its benefits) and provided that you are monitoring your intake realistically and not swigging straight out of the bottle with a straw, you are ok. I used to love puddings but I have cut them out now except for a very rare treat in a restaurant, and I have done so because I'd rather have a glass of red wine with some delicious cheese and bickies. You are FAR better off drinking a glass of wine than spirits, and according to scientists the general guideline is the darker the alcoholic drink, the less damaging it is; it's the clear ones which we have to watch. And NO, I'm not having a go at G+T drinkers! I'm not a personal fan but I do love vodka, and I know that's not good. We just have to have these things in very sensible quantities. Enjoy your glass of red and don't feel guilty unless you are pouring into your hot water bottle before retiring to bed. Most of us in this community are making big sacrifices to improve our lives. We can afford one or two treats to help us on our way, without fearing that we will turn into Father Jack (remember him, from Father Ted?)

love Betty, and Cheers!
