I see them bloom for me and you.....and I think to myself, what a wonderful world.
Yeah! Another pound of excess energy hits the dust...walked off in a beautiful wonderful world in which we all live!
So nine pounds gone, never to return.
As Xenaworriorprincess princess pointed out...it's quite tricky to eat all the healthy food...there's so much of it.
It would be untrue to say this weeks been easy though. I've had an op, a funeral and been away from home ....well back to mum and dads...so perils of past eating habits lay in every cupboard. I hiccupped twice...down to wine and song...which you'd expect at a wake....but taking advice from you wonderful forum buddies, I save a few hundred calories and used them on the tough days.....
So thank you to you all, for your posts and encouragement, your stories of success and confessions of misdemeanours ....you support me in this new and sometimes challenging life...and it is so worth it.
And finally, I wore the dress ...the one that I could finally get into..took the labels off...it felt good!
So I hope you're seeing trees of green, red roses too and I hope that you're thinking to yourself......what a wonderful world!π

Great post Portlandprincess. You did well in a bit of a tricky week! I am so hoping to get back into some of my clothes once I can get down below 12 St.this forum is really helping keeping me focused by reading everyone else's journeys. Have a great week!
Thank youπ it's so true about the forum...check out an early Trafford1 post ...inspirational stories...on page 4 there's abit of research about how these online forums work! And they really do! Hope your doing well...I'm missing my huge soups when away from home. I keep a massive pot on the cooker for any Moment of weakness ....as for the clothes fitting ...it does feel so good...and has only taken four weeks....still got at least four stone to go though!
Well done Portlandprincess Siounds like you are doing really well and that's fab about being able to get into the dress ! Sorry the week hasn't been easy, but you must be feeling even better that you managed to cope ok without slipping into any bad habits - that when we are really tested. I'm going to be humming Louis Armstrong all day now...
Hey eatwell, thank you.....I see you've had a testing time...I'm pushing the calories to the max ...and I think to was you who helped me with this decision...so thank you! Hope your doing well and enjoying the week so far x
And a very good morning to you too Portlandprincess, what a fine morning it is. You sound in superb spirits and well you should, giving the heaveho to poor willpower this week after all that has happened. Congratulations on the 1lb loss, nice little downward spiral you have going on the old weight chart.
Talking of soup, I have already started on my 'warming winter soups' lol. Seems appropriate with the temperature drops. The best thing about these soups is that they are super filling too and I don't get that urge to go hunt for 'a little something to put me on' an hour or so later. I have a squash to use up, as well as a turnip, so these will be added to a lamb and barley soup later......ooooh I am salivating in anticipation!! ππππ
Thank you Shellie, I'm loving this forum, as ever! Please share the recipes! Especially as we're coming up to Halloween....ready for the pumpkin season...yeah....π
Hi PP,
Fab post, really uplifting to know you are feeling so good. Hope you got a photo in that frock ππ²π³π΄πΉπΉπΉ
oh Flossie, you are so lovely........A photographer friend once explained how to get slimming pics...do you think I should post his instructions? Or would people think it's too silly?
Congratulations on losing 1 pound this week, and to achieving a total weight loss of 9 pounds. Brilliant that you were able to wear your dress, and that it felt good.
Sorry to hear you've had a funeral this week, and hope it went ok.
Those words, 'Trees of green, red roses too' is a really evocative description, and I agree with you that it is a 'wonderful world'.
Hi Low Cal, thank you...you're always so kind to everyone on this forum....the funeral was a celebration of my grandma...ninety nine years old. Such an amazing lady. The crematorium overlooks the beautiful valley...with a huge window. Beautiful service. Tears were shed..especially when my way was played. She was born on the same day as the great frank Sinatra....he too would have been one hundred in December.
Met someone today on the couch to 5k forum, they were singing oh what a beautiful morning from oaklahoma........must be something to do with this forum....sends us in the words of queen..slightly mad....
Hi Doy, it is exciting isn't it...but the feeling of being healthy is amazing ......so the here and now is so much better than four weeks ago...even though I'm still going to burn off four and a half stone! I know! Four and a half stone of unwanted energy...don't need it anymore...how much do you have to burn off?
Congrats PP on losing 9lbs now, and especially for losing a pound in a difficult week. Really in awe of your positive attitude. Hope you have an excellent week ahead and another excuse to wear your dress again soon
Hey Ruth....thank you so much....just feeling so much better as the pounds melt away....not been able to do the amount of exercise this week and really miss it! Have been looking at the 5K forum and plan to start that before Christmas...I know it sounds mad but if I start in the depth of winter things can only get better...oh no another ear worm!π
I started c25k in late January, and actually it was okay. If you're anything like me and any exercise makes you immediately overheat, then running in cold weather isn't such a big problem. Good luck if you do decide to do it. Enjoy feeling the pounds melt away in the meantime
Just want to shed about another half stone and then I'll feel more confident about my knees carrying the weight. As for over heating...I am often flushing like a beaconπ lovely to hear from you Ruth hope your bruising cleared up....take care
Yeah the bruise has all but gone now thanks. But just now I had this tremendous 'click' in my lower back, which weirdly didn't hurt at all. Maybe it was a click that needed to happen? I think I'll be abstaining from exercise for one more day now (at least!) I'm all for being cautious about what your body can actually manage right now!
PP, you are one of the most amazingly positive people I've ever encountered. I think I could have a leg hanging off, bubonic plague, homelessness and imminent world destruction and one of your posts could make me think that all's well and nothing's insurmountable as long as there's a handy ear worm Thank you!
Hi Portlandprincess, well done on another pound biting the dust and for your 9 lbs of shed weight so far. Many congratulations on getting into that dress and taking the tag off ( go girl! ) The grass is greener on the other side
Didn't even know it! Wow a natural lol! Gonna have to spoil the rhyme though as it was Petula Clark....she sang the sun shines brighter on the other side.....
