Motivation
Hello and welcome, Snobunny
Motivation has to come from within. Motivation is the reason for doing something so remind yourself why you want to lose weight, what would improve about your life, what you'd do differently.
This Welcome Newbie post explains all the forum has to offer and how to find your way around healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... I would recommend coming here regularly, reading posts, joining in and supporting others.
We also advise you read this post about privacy and security online, especially as you have left your post unlocked healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Wishing you every success
Thank you for your encouraging comments. I am 70, my son is marrying in April. I would love to be able to choose an outfit rather than buy what fits. I also have a hip operation in the near future. I know I can do it if I am focused. Here’s hoping 🤞
That's a lovely event to be looking forward to and you'll be able to make real progress in the next three months
Have you decided how you're going to tackle it? Are you starting the 12 week plan? Here's another option you might consider. healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Hi Snobunny and welcome to this forum. You have accepted that you need to lose weight for your health and that is an excellent start. I too suddenly decided ,after a comment from my GP that when I was feeling better we needed to look at my weight...I went straight home and thought no I will do something about it now not when I’m feeling better. I sat down with my husband( who is as thin as a rake) and we decided that the well known slimming clubs which I have attended in th past were actually a waste of money for me. We googled and came up with the NHS 12week plan which I printed off. I split the day up into the calories they suggested and made a list of foods we ate , portion sizes and calories and went on from there. This was Nov 17 and now I am 4 st 5 lbs lighter, healthier and following a new healthy eating lifestyle. My blood pressure last week was 122/78 and my cholesterol has halved now to 3.5. The only downside for me is the loose wrinkly skin on my upper arms and round my middle. My daughter said as I wasn’t ever likely to wear a bikini then no one would notice and I wear three quarter sleeved tops at the moment. When I look in the mirror I often wonder who that person is looking at me . Going from buying size 22 clothes to size 14 is such a boost, I still have about 1st 7 lbs to go but I will get there. Aim for a few pounds at a time and look forward to treating yourself to a new item of clothing. A tip from me is to measure yourself , make a note somewhere and keep one item of your big clothes for ever . I kept a pair of crop trousers which I put on at times and can now get both kegs down one trouser leg. Join one of the weigh in days, the admin people will give you links to this forum so sit back and take some time to read through it all. If you join a weigh in day you will get lots of support from others on your same day. Good luck to you , your health is important. I am 67 and found it was not too late for me to do something about it .
Here’s to a new healthier lifestyle you can do it Sue 🎈🎈🎈
Sounds great. Well done you. Getting lots of useful and welcome advice. Great to hear success stories, help with motivation.
Hi Snobunny you will find lots of members are behind you on your journey and will support you. It will be just up to you now to get focused and look at all the info you have been linked up to. Noted your comment above about a wedding to look forward to in April...what better motivation could you have than that. You will want to look your best in the photos for him and for yourself. My daughter got married in 2004 and when I Look at the photos I cringe when I see what I looked like then and what I could have looked like if I had started on this journey then but other things happened like the death of our son just 5 weeks before her wedding so can’t turn back the clock but you have time to make that difference. Good luck to you and enjoy the day in April ❤️❤️❤️
Hiya snobunny this may sound daft but it Hugely worked for me! a H.D. picture of myself taken on a lovely clear super sunny day wearing an army vest , standing next to a young guy . making my huge lower torso,(belly) super obvious ,( thought I resembled a 'weeble!)
Within 7 to 9 month,(?) I went from 18,1/2 stone!! ( urgh!!),to approx. 12 stone!, 79 kilo!,
Thank you so much, loving the encouragement.
