I be now posted it but don’t know if it’s in the right place lol
Yes, Fra-90, people follow all sorts of different plans. Sometimes it takes a while to find the one that suits you.
Many are following a low carb high fat approach, enjoying it and seeing good weight loss. Others are tackling the particular things that they know has added to their weigh gain e.g. portion size, eating between meals, processed foods.
I would recommend coming here as often as you can, reading posts and supporting others. That will help you find your own way forward
I keep a general eye on my calories because if I don´t I tend to undereat, leading to binges later. But I don´t keep a precise count. Works for me, but everyone´s different!
Hi, I found that counting calories helped to start with as it helped me visualise portions. I did it quite strictly for a few weeks to get a feel for how much I could eat. I think we all find our own way....so perhaps try some different things until you find one that works for you. Good luck
Hi Fra-90 I find calorie counting doesn't work for me and as long as I eat healthily and don't overeat I'm usually fine. As long as you are losing weight at a steady pace it really doesn't matter but you have to do what's right for you. Join the easter challenge as Lytham advised-I'm in it as I put on weight this week and need something to keep me on track-good luck
Thanks so much
Hi,
I don’t count calories and have lost 2 stone. I eat healthily, exercise regularly but still have wine at weekends. I imagine my weight loss would be faster if I did stick rigidly to calorie counting but it doesn’t fit in with my life so I wouldn’t stick at it for long. Slow and steady is my way!
This is what I’m looking for , . What did you change in your diet to loose this weight, and well done
I stopped drinking wine during the week, which in turn stopped me nibbling before my evening meals. I have reduced my intake of bread and pasta and rice- I now have salad with chilli or bolognaise sauce. I generally have homemade soup or salad with cheese or mackerel for lunch. I also exercise 3/4 times a week as well as doing 10-14k steps a day.
Nothing really major for me but little changes have made a big difference!
Good luck 🙂
I recorded everything in a notebook when I started - no. of grams, calories fat carbs & protein (found writing it down took less time than an app). It was useful when I switched to LCHF to check whether ratios were about right (I aim for around 75:25 fat to carbs plus around 30% of total food protein). I'd only do it now if weight started going in wrong direction and I needed to figure out why!
Suggest taking your measurements too as it's very rewarding to see progress over time!
Hi, Fra-90 , Welcome.
My father lost seven stone in a year without counting calories.
I do not count calories, and I lost a stone at two pounds a week and, so far, nearly two stone at one pound a week. I could lose weight faster, but I choose to limit my weight loss.
Try cutting out sugar, sweets, treats, snacks, puddings, cake, biscuits, potatoes and supper… and just have some fruit in the afternoon/evening … and eat real food.
You do not have to lose weight the first week - you can cut back gradually.
Not eating in the evening - or only eating in a four to eight-hour "window" is called "Intermittent Fasting" and it helps weight loss and your health in general.
If you can lose weight without counting calories, then there will not be a massive change when you get down to your target weight/body-fat percentage: All that will change will be that your target weight will be the same each week! This makes it so much easier to maintain your target weight, and avoid yo-yoing (putting it all back on again as soon as you stop calorie counting).
I think most of the maintainers do not count calories.
Exercise helps, but I was able to lose weight when I was disabled.
Good luck - and please ask if want any more info.
This sounds so much better, I think 1 or 21b a week will be great for me. I only need to loose 1 stone so watch this space
Thanks for your help
