Stir fry veggies?

Marple_J2lbs in reply tomoreless

Perfect, thanks, mushrooms stir fry

Ditch the weight watchers meal - get some eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and you could even allow for 1 sausage. Have an all day breakfast just dont fry it in tons of oil and lay off the bread! :)

But is that not really high in calories?

The beauty of calorie counting is you can eat whatever you wish as long as you allow for it. What is your Daily target?

Marple_J profile image

My daily target is 1200. I had the stir fry tonight with my meal as suggested earlier by moreless which kept me under and not in need of snacking. Looking forward to my scrambled eggs on toast weekend breakfast treat tomorrow ☺

1200 calories seems awfully low Marple_J , have you checked your personal allowance on the BMI checker? As you lose weight you will need to reduce your intake further to continue to lose weight. With only 1200 cals you will have to reduce to the point where you won’t be getting adequate nutrition. This is a mistake many yo yo dieters make. It is ok to have 1 or 2 low cal days per week (800 cals - if you are intermittent fasting), but you still need to have a lot more on the other days. Please re-visit the BMI checker for your personal calorie range. It is recommended that you start towards the higher end of the range. Good luck.

As NannEJ has explained, this is quite low, can I ask how you arrived at this figure? The NHS BMI checker is an accurate way of determining your calorie targets 😊

I got this figure from my fitness app. I didn't actually see the NHS one so I will have a look at that one, thank you ☺ my diet is consisting of weetabix with yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, salad with tuna, egg, chicken etc for lunch and fresh fish with veg for dinner. Snacking on fruit. I'm getting great meal tips on this group which is great as will give me other meal ideas so I don't get bored with eating the same.

This does appear quite low, and going too low, too soon, can cause issues further down the line

But maybe you aren’t very tall or active?

I have just worked it out on your link and I should be 2000. That's a huge difference. I'm 5,5 and quite active now since I started this. Need to eat more. Thank you so much for pointing this out

how many drinks did you have they have calories in them

Marple_J profile image
Marple_J2lbs in reply torobert1957

Yes, I had 2 lagers at 130 cals each and 2 vodkas at 70 cals each. Have changed my drinks to one's with less cals now and go out less than I used to

in reply toMarple_J

Bacon, eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes - is lower in calories than a bowl of cereal.

2 rashers of bacon on a griddle pan is around 100 cals

2 eggs - large is 200ish if cooked in oil or less if scrambled

Mushrooms and tomatoes - fill your boots!!

450 cals max for that

Looking online at a weight watchers chicken sweet and sour is it about 360 cals?

Personally the bacon, eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes would appeal to me more and i wouldnt want to pick afterwards at snacks!

Because of an illness I can't eat either bacon or tomato (which 12 months ago I ate regularly and miss greatly). Is very interesting though about the others which I love which would probably work out the same calories as what I've just eaten. Thanks for that, I need to give more thought and not just presume a ww meal is the better option

in reply toMarple_J

You can get turkey rashers instead of bacon if you can have them? They are lower calorie and a substitute for bacon in this sort of meal. A small amount of baked beans instead of the tomatoes could be another substitute. :)

Just some ideas that might help for future :)

You don’t mention if your drinks were alcoholic or if you were counting their calories. Get a Weightwatchers cookery book and find quick and filling recipes using ordinary food. If you want to bulk up a ww readymeal you could add sweet corn, butter beans or chickpeas, all of which are zero rated, or a slice of bread or a small roll, which are only 2 points.

Hi, yes they were alcoholic, 2 lagers and 2 vodkas. My friend is actually sending me a weight watchers recipe book. I do prefer to try cook my own meals but currently having kitchen renovated so not possible to be as adventurous as I'd like to yet

I had 2 pints of lager at 130 cals each and 2 vodkas with lime and soda at 70 cals each (according to my fitness app)
