I expect you have your hands full with your son, but what a great reason to be looking to change your eating habits and to be fit and healthy not only for you, but him also
Well done for getting back to the gym - exercise is great for depression. I am going to assume that you are receiving help from your Doctor for your PND - I do hope so.
Firstly stop dieting and think healthy eating plan for life. Diets just don't work. As soon as you revert back to the old way of eating, on goes the weight.
If you are keeping your calories really low and eating diet and low fat food, that would be the next thing to address. Use the NHS BMI calculator to work out your own personal calorie range and start towards the top end. Eating far to few calories will not help you to loose weight. Your body just clings to what it has as it's frightened you're not going to feed it.
Make sure you use full fat yoghurt, butter, cream, nuts, olive or coconut oil and eat fattier cuts of meat.
You could go and take a look at the Daily Diary for today and see what other people are eating to get some ideas or post your meal plan and get some good advice - healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Welcome this is a lovely forum where you are never judged and will just find positivity. I completely empathise with you when you say your weight effects your mental health as I am exactly the same I wish there was a magic wand as I would use it on myself .. my best advice is plan and track what you eat and use this forum it will motivate you its a great place to unload....xx
Your post touched me I’ve not been affected by PND but know many who have. Firstly please ensure you go to the doctors and address this issue if you haven’t already as there is so so much help out there - promise! Remember you are a mum and doing the best job in the world so never be hard on yourself!
Next congrats on taking the first step. All the info you need for the forum is listed in the above messages and daily diaries for food ideas once you have your calories intake from the NHS website. However being a new mum myself I would say two simple things you can do alongside new healthier ways of eating are :
1. Minimum 2-3 litres of water a day with a slice of lemon or lime If you don’t like plain - is so essential for a healthy mind and body!
2. Walking! whenever and whenever you can with your boy after work or nursery if these apply or at the weekends. Listen to a motivational podcast - be careful to watch roads if you have headphones in though! If your alone, call a friend and just get moving even 10-15 minutes a day until you build up to an hour will make such a difference on your weight loss and also your mind. Being outdoors and walking amongst nature is known to release endorphins which battle stress and depression.
Remember small steps, once change at a time. Your stronger than you think! You’ve totally got this!!! 🙏
oh oak16, I hear ya. I am back again after getting ankle surgery and gaining a lot of weight that I had previously lost. it has made me severely depressed. but I know that if I post here and listen to the admin, I will be better. I promise if you post and read, you will feel much better. read what the admin says and join the newby posts. I recommend the first thing you do is change one small thing. cut out sodas and sweet drinks maybe first if that is a problem for you. diet cokes are just as bad as regular cokes I think as the fake sugar is so bad for ya. anyway, if you need good advice, this is the place to be. post , read and chin up darlin'!
