I have joined today and will be commencing the 12 week program as of Monday 24th of September (i'm giving myself the weekend to get a plan together). I will be turning the big 60 in January and frankly I'm fed up of saying I'm going to loose weight and then not sticking to the plan. I have a number of items on my last year of my fifties and the first year of my sixties to tick off and I want to go into my 60's feeling fitter, slimmer and healthier. I don't look my age which is good and I want to continue to look good right through my 60's.

Hello RobinRedBreast12 and welcome to the weight loss forum.
You sound very positive and that will carry you far
If you're using the NHS 12 week plan, please be aware that the 1400 you may see is a generic figure that suits very few of us. You need to get a calorie range relevant to you from the NHS BMI calculator and aim for the upper end of the scale.
To help you find your way around, we’ve put all the information you’ll need in a Newbie pack and here's the link healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Please take time to read it so you'll know what the forum has to offer.
We also ask that you read this important information about internet privacy and security, especially as you've left your post unlocked. healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Wishing you all the best and hoping to see you around the forum.
By the way, it would be interesting to know how you found your way to this forum
Hello BridgeGirl, I don't have a clue how I found the website. I was looking for health tips and kind of stumbled upon this! Hopefully it will give me some good tips on how to achieve a sensible weight loss and stay motivated. I have downloaded some resources already and will start in ernest on Monday. Sadly I just seem to keep going round and round on the site and getting nowhere.
Welcome to the forum and I can't help saying what a beautiful username you have. I personally find it helps to have something to lose weight for and for you it is your 60th birthday. As you suggest, this is going to be a lifestyle change for you and I think that is a really good way to look at this rather than a short-term fix. This is a really friendly forum and you will receive a lot of support here. I find it helps to keep me focused if I come onto the forum on a daily basis. There is a great deal of valuable information on this forum and you will gradually find your way around it. Best wishes on your weight loss journey.
Thank you leal-49r, after my first week I'm getting more savvy in understanding how easy it is to put food in my mouth and not realize exactly how many calories I am eating. Hopefully this will become a health lifestyle change, although I was invited out on Friday evening and I ended up having a bit of a blip.... I'm back on track and more aware today.
Good luck with your own journey.
Welcome RobinRedBreast12! You made a good start coming on this forum. I have found it very useful, the people here are very supportive, there’s always someone who can give advice, encouragement, or reply to a good winge! It’s available 24/7 and doesn’t cost a penny! Many people follow different diets so it’s great to read about the different ways, try out what appeals. The only thing is that there are no fad diets, no quick fixes, just a way of eating and living more healthily for life. I wish you good luck and hope to read more about you. (And don’t be put off by the assessment, I did it too after I saw your post and thought the same as you!)
Thanks anniedogwalker, hopefully this journey isn't a quick fix but a life changing event. This week has been very informative and hopefully I will take a step each week to achieving my goal.
Thanks for taking the time to message.
It’s a pleasure to welcome new members! Keep coming on the forum and share your highs and your lows, there will always be someone who responds who will give you a bit of strength to carry on. At the end of the day, if, over a period, you just stop eating the stuff you know pile on the calories without giving you any goodness, then you’ll lose weight. Good luck!
Hi,
Welcome!!
Food for thought .. ( Zero Calories)
How does it matter if you are turning into 60 or 50 or 70?
Who has ever asked to show your age certificate on the street.
Your age is really...
what you show on your face,
your body
your thoughts
your actions
your smile
your energy
your positivity
Ideally you should forget 60 and aim for 30.
Promise yourself that you are going to move to 30 and see how things change.
Me at 25 still... rather ( 25 x 2)... but doesn't matter.
I believe I am 25...
Love yourself, love your age, love what you do. be ageless
Regards
