I have completed week three of the NHS 12 week weight loss plan. I did not lose any weight in the first two weeks - I only lost inches. I did lose 7lbs in the third week. I am now in the 4th week and hope to have lost 2 more lbs by the end of the week. I started dieting before I joined this weight loss plan and since then have lost an entire stone. My stomach was so big that I found it difficult to walk up stairs because my stomach would make it difficult for me to bring my knees up. I hadn't seen my pubic region for over two years when looking in the mirror. I didn't look like a woman - I looked like a MONSTER !
I developed gout a while ago and - praise the Lord - this has brought me to my senses. Gout is crippling but - looking on the bright side - taking charge of my disgusting condition could save my life. Thanks for this weight loss plan.... you may have saved my life ! Ha Ha Haa
It is good that you are following the NHS 12 week plan. There will be times that you won't lose weight every week, but if you take your measurements from your hip, waist etc the times you don't lose weight, you might find that your measurements have changed instead.

Well done with losing one stone altogether that is brilliant going. Normally I would give you a newbie badge but as you have lost a stone already I will award you a 1st badge to celebrate your achievement so far.

I am a carer and my work routine changes daily. My weight loss plan must take a 2nd place to my work regime. At the same time, my weight loss has become the ife line I must follow in order to survive at all..........

Don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure you look beautiful as you are now!!, somtimes we just can't see it ourselves. Be kind to yourself.
Well done for completing 3 weeks and being a stone lighter! Gout was my wake-up call as well, something I remind myself about when the going gets tough at times.
Hi and welcome to this friendly forum you have done the best thing joining as it's so supportive and the advice is priceless.👍
I can sympathise with the gout I had a few months of it on and off about 6 years ago and can honestly say the pain is unbelievable I would sooner give birth any day lol.
I don't know if you are on medication for it as is my dad but I took apple cider vinegar capsules and continued to do so for the next 4 years I really think they helped me a lot.
Hope it soon departs you and your new healthy lifestyle gives you more energy and moavability.
Good luck Bev💐
Hi and thanks.
Yes, it was the first time I've been sick & unable to work for over a week in my whole life. Just tossing & turning in bed. Felt like giving up on life. People I work for were really really great & deserve a great big star. Since then I've lost a whole stone and hope to lose three more. It's given me a new challenge in life - looking on the bright side. I'm starting to look at clothes again etc and taking a new interest in myself. I'm determined to overcome this using dieting.
It's hard to stay between 100 and 150 purines a day but I see it as a challenge.
My partner suffers from Gout (and he is not overweight), and we have found it is worse when he gets dehydrated as the uric acid levels in the blood get more concentrated. Drink lots of water and fruit teas which help to fill you as well as keeping the blood levels well diluted! Avoid too much caffeinated drinks, in particular coffee, as this makes you lose more water by irritating the bladder, and aggravates the likelihood of an attack. We too have to find a diet low in purines for his sake - no cauliflower rice for us! Also no liver or sea-food. Mushrooms we avoid but occasional small amounts of any of these foods won't hurt - it is the build-up of purines that we try to avoid. Good luck with the weight loss - you will feel so much better for it!
