Newly on a local Onelife group trying to lose quite a lot of weight round my gut. Even bought new Salter spring (non-electronic) scales, but they seem to weigh about 3KG higher than the ones in my wife's bathroom, and the ones at the weekly group. I don't think you can adjust the actual weighing, as opposed to the start position.
P****d off to find out I've actually put on rather than lost, which is the point of the whole exercise. Or have I? Things are indeed against us. Send back the flipping scales?
Wish me luck!

I'm afraid all scales will weigh slightly differently and each set of scales will give a different reading, if they're put in a different place.
Make sure you set them on a firm surface, not carpet, or springy floor boards and, if possible leave them there, or put them on a board for easy moving.
Use one set of scales, so that you know whether you've lost, or gained, but, in the end, it's only a number and there are many other markers for success. Feeling healthier, being able to move easier, waist measurement, fitting in your clothes better, are all a great ways to track your progress
