Hi. I have just joined after eventually braving the scales and being shocked to see what I saw. I've been in denial a while about my weight and what I eat. I'm quite good at the main meals but snack a lot especially at work and also have a very sweet tooth!! I need to lose a stone and a half. Really looking for some support and ideas on how to curb the snacking.

Welcome Wishful,

No need to feel nervous, we all have to start somewhere. If you want to cut out snacking then you need to add some satiating 'good' fats to your meals. They will keep you fuller longer. Don't be tempted to eat diet or low fat foods they are usually high in sugar and don't fill you up at all.

Make sure you eat enough, no need to feel hungry. Use the NHS BMI calculator to work our your own personal range of calories and begin at the highest end of the range :)

If you need to ask questions, do :) If you need some inspiration for meals, take a look at the Daily Diary.

Onwards and downwards :)

You have no need to be nervous here. You have joined one of the most supportive communities you can find. There is always someone around to reply to your concerns and if you participate in threads such as the Daily Diary, I'm sure you will find plenty of advice on snacking. Just ask about anything on your mind and there will be someone to encourage, congratulate or console, whatever is needed. Good luck 👍

1. Snacking is good, snack on fruits and salads.

2. Stock up on fruits and such salads.

3. Get rid of all snacks, biscuits etc from your home/office.

4. Keep a stock of dry fruits like almonds, raisins etc.

5. Having a sweet tooth is okay, dont fight it, just limit it or give things like raisins/dates etc.

6. Try mindful eating. I have found this to be the best form of eating, much effective than dieting. Try this... zenhabits.net/what-is-mindf...

7. Monitor your weight / calorie targets through 'Myfitnesspal' app. It will track your calories in / out in a logical way.

All the best!! :)

Don’t be nervous, you’ve come to the right place. Use this forum, it has a lot to offer and is full of people in exactly the same situation as yours. Noone advocates a crash diet, a lose weight quickly system. We all learn about better eating, about better choices. A big welcome Wishful0408 on the road to becoming slimmer and healthier.
