My Weight Diary app tries to insist that I weight myself every day, as it needs to know the range of weight to estimate the "trend".

Your weight can fluctuate by a quarter of a stone through gut-fill and fluid, and I have gluten intolerance, which can cause bloating and larger fluctuations.

To minimise these fluctuations I weight myself before breakfast, after using the loo. My weight loss plan is to keep to my diet until I get down to my target weight for the week, so I do weigh myself during the week, but I only record my weight once a week.

I do not panic if my weight is above my target weight... I just keep to my diet until I am down to my target weight.

Hi Redspot

A lot of people weight themselves every day. For some it helps them to keep on track. Your weight will fluctuate during the week. I find it best to have one day as your weigh in day and only really take notice of that weight. It is best to weigh first thing in the morning.

You could join the Wobbly Warriors weigh in today and make Wednesday your official weigh in day. If that isn't a good day for you we have weigh in's every day. They run from 10pm the night before (to accommodate our overseas friends) until 10pm on the day.

Wishing you good luck :)

In addition to what the others have said, I've seen some people here weigh monthly. You have to do what feels comfortable for you.

You have to be strong to weigh daily as on any one day your weight is almost as likely to go up as well as down (could even happen over a week but less likely).

It's a good idea to take plenty of measurements for those times when the body isn't playing ball. Sometimes your weight won't drop but your measurements still do.

If you haven't taken some photos now, these are also good to compare against later :)
