Hi ollio , do you know what lets you down? Portion size? Processed foods and takeaways? Snacking? Alcohol? Mindless eating? Something else? You'll make progress best by pinning down what it is and starting by tackling that.
Other things to think about are
a) are you eating enough? Get your individualised calorie range from the NHS BMI calculator and don't be tempted to go below that, aim for the middle to upper end and get those calories into your three meals a day (or two if that's your choice) so you don't have to think about snacking at all and
b) is it time to try a different approach altogether, like low carb, high fat? Just a thought. Here's some information you might find useful - hope you're not offended by the title, it just relates to the struggle we all have as we get older and might explain things for you healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Hi BridgeGirl. I struggle with everything on your list apart from the alcohol. Hmmmm.....
Well then, that's why you haven't made it in the past. The reality is we have to change if we want different results. Obvious thing to say but there's only you who can do it, and you have to keep doing it every day. We're always here to cheer you on but it is in your hands.
Decide what you're going to work on first and commit yourself to it. Read the link I've sent you. Eat enough. Eat well.
Welcome back ollio

Hi Ollio, I know what it's like when you desperately want a change and don't know which way to turn. We've all been there.... So baby steps, little changes, slow and steady, think tortoise as opposed to hare Take some time, check your calorie range and make little changes. It is important to eat enough, it's so true when you're hungry you'll get so fed up and probably overeat. Then we all think, here we go again, and throw in the towel. Have a read of all the info, decide on a calorie range and plan, then give it a go. Good luck!
Good luck. It is hard I have been trying for nearly a year to get rid of weight. I a. Trying rally hard on this site. Started my second week today and lost 3lb last week and starts to exercise agai . Keep going
Well done for rejoining. We all fall off the wagon so don't despair this is my second time here, I hope that I can stay focussed for a week or two to start not putting myself under toomuch pressure. Small steps.. Try meal Planning it dies help and good luck
Hi welcome back to the forum- we all fall off the wagon- I am now a maintainer and still fall off the wagon so it will be constant challenge but hopefully will get less often as you think about why you fell off the wagon in the first place and learn techniques to help.
Also don't focus on the 6 stones break it down into to either 1/2 or 1 stone segments and give your self a non-food reward when you have achieved it split over realistic time frame- 1/2 stone every 7 weeks or 2 months whichever you find easiest.
Good luck
