Hi and welcome, Margo :)

If you log onto the Daily Diary, you'll get menu and planning ideas and advice.

Some of the foods that we turn too, can actively trigger a response that makes us crave more. You just need to find the strength to break the cycle, so that your body can respond properly to hunger and satiety.

To make navigating the forum easier, we've put all the information you'll need in a newbie pack and here's the link

Hi Margo, a fellow Fibro Warrior here, mine also seems to be getting worse, I am working hard at pacing myself properly, but it's so hard not to when I'm having a good day.

I haven't been here long but it seems like a supportive and encouraging place to be. I'm also using the MyFitnessPal app to record my food/calorie intake and that is brilliant, I've noticed quite a few people on here use it as well.

I wonder if you live with other people? I have my husband and adult son at home, our eating habits have been horrendous for a long time and my husband has put LOADS of weight on over the last couple of years (I've been obese since I was a child). He also loves a bargain and insisted on bringing stacks of cakes, pastries and bread home from the reduced section of every supermarket in town!!! He does the shopping because I can't cope with the shops. Anyway, if it's in the house I tend to eat it - so after much nagging and a loss of temper he has finally stopped bringing that stuff home and has joined me on this calorie counting path. So, we have stopped keeping stuff in - no biscuits, no pastries etc. no nice bread and have got into the habit of checking the calorie content of stuff. At first it seems faffy but it really isnt - and it's quite surprising just how many calories are in things. Portion size is also an issue with us (My dh is Turkish, food is a HUGE part of their culture) so I started weighing out our portions and have a picture of a healthy plate on the fridge. Again this seems faffy to start with but now it's just habit - and using the MyFitnessPal app has helped with that too - it can find any food seemingly.

I hope you're having a decent enough day, and that I haven't rambled on too much!!! xx

Congrats on getting your hubby to stop bringing home those bargains. One of the difficult obstacles to weight loss is often our friends and family around us, so at least you've hurdled one obstacle :)

Loving the idea of your portion size pic on the fridge. Not faffy at all... all hands and methods to the pump and whatever works for each individual.

Keep up the good work!

You've already helped yourself Margo by downloading the 12 week plan. If you haven't already, take your time to read through it in as much detail as possible and start from there.

The important bit will be to run the NHS BMI calculator to get the calorie range specific for you that will help you lose weight at a sensible, manageable and enjoyable (hopefully) rate.

Shout out if you have any questions at all.
