Hello this is my first post so I will tell you a little about myself .I am 55 years old vegetarian for 25 years diagnosed with an under active thyroid 25 years ago, I had a hysterectomy in 2005 and have struggled with my weight all my adult life .17 years ago I lost 7 stones in just over a year with weight watchers which was brilliant .I weighed 8 and a half stones .I then moved to another part of the country 16 years ago and I have put 6 stones back on in, I weight this makes me very ashamed of myself to the point I dont want to go out with my husband or grown up children .I have decided enough is enough and I need to lose the weight as I am constantly tired and I want to look nice again, I have joined this group for support and idea's .I am looking forward to being part of the group x

Cheering you on to reach your goals 🎉🎉🎉
Welcome Jules. You've taken a big step by posting here and as Minnie's said, you will find lots of support here.
You were strong enough to lose all that weight in the first place which tells me that you have it in yourself to do it again.
Probably everything I say you'll be aware of but break your journey down into small steps such as the first couple of pounds, then maybe 1/2 a stone.
One of the strong points about this forum is that even when you reach your goal, your friends here (and they will be ) will still be around to help you maintain. I hit my maintenance level last June but if it wasn't for the people here I'd have gone off the rails by now.
Have a read of the NHS 12 week plan, that many of us here are following and ask any questions you may have.
Best of luck!
You have made the first step to shedding those pounds . I also didn't feel great in front of my family . I spent a couple of hours attempting to get a dress that would make me look half decent last year for my sons graduation and made sure that any photos just got my head bobbing in the distance although the ones that were taken slyly gave me a wake up call ! I started cutting down portions and eating better in early January and already I feel less sluggish , my clothes fit better and I can exercise without puffing like a steam train . On this site we all have a common goal . I have found tips , support and a real feeling of - This works .
Welcome Jules30862 look at this as your new way of life. You will get support and encouragement only here. Minniewinny has showed you about the different threads on the forum so have a good look around you will soon get the hang on things quickly. All the best see you around the forum very soon.
You are very welcome here Jules30862 . You'll always have company and support on this forum as you get back on track and make the changes you want. You've done it before and you can do it again
welcome Jules! I find that this place is similar to Weight watchers only cheaper! I love it here and altho I am not doing so well now, I am getting back on track. everyone is so supportive and full of good ideas to move and eat well. I will hang in there this time hopefully longer! because I know it works
And we're pleased to have you join us. All the best on your new journey.
There are many of us on here who've made it to target and maintained, but none of us have forgotten how it felt at the beginning. My tip is. see this not as "a diet" but a new way of life, and take one day at a time. Slow and steady wins the race 😊
Thank you so much for all your kind words and messages of encouragement I am going to take one day at a time x
