Hi and welcome to the community!!
Welcome Audrey to this happy, helpful forum.
You'll probably find that most of us plateau out at some point or other, however staying with this forum is likely to be that additional ingredient needed to continue your downward journey.
An administrator will reply to you shortly with an official welcome. It is well worth absorbing everything they write and following the link they provide to further information.
hi Audrey and welcome!!! the admin will let you know what to do now but the first step you took in joining us is the bomb!!! this is the place to be for advice, support and a few terrific recipes. the thing that keeps me going is that I dream sometimes of being able to run and it feels great. I want to be able to do that as right now I can barely walk. I have arthritis in both knees and ankles so I know how you feel. what I recommend to us all is to use a pool if you have any access to one. it is low impact and fun and some exercise that will make you feel terrific. what I started doing to lose weight was to use smaller plates causing smaller portions. I eat when I am not hungry but if I have to plate it all, sometimes I don't even want to eat then. I have lost 20 pounds in about 12 weeks and all I did was change my life for the good. I did not go on a diet, I decided to be healthier. hopefully you can do this as well so the plateau does not get you again. I am concentrating on being healthy and the weight loss is a pleasant side effect! good luck to us both!!! oh yeh, remember to post and read as it is the best way I found to stay motivated.

Hello Audrey, from what you say it sounds as tho' you know how to lose weight but then regain it. Have you had a look at the NHS plan? It could help you to build new habits for life, so when the weight goes, it stays gone!
You'll get plenty of support here during the good times and, even more importatnly, when it becomes a slog, and the links cracker has given you will help you find your way around the forum. So good luck with your new start and do get involved on here, letting us know how you're doing and offering encouragement to others
Hi there one thing I found when I joined without realising was that I wasn’t even eating enough calories in a day as I was only eating around 1000cals a day instead of the original 2000 cals a day as I thought eating less was going to help me lose more weight but it turned out that my body was always thinking I was starving it so was turning everything I did eat into body fat instead and this weighs more than eating the extra food would have done. Now I will always check my calories on the My Fitness Pal site so I don’t make this same mistake again. Check how many calories you should eat to be able to lose weight safely on the nhs bmi calculator and this tells you how many to have to lose weight and don’t eat less than this. Good luck with your journey.
