Can I just reassure you Amme67 that providing you are on the correct dosage of thyroxin, this should not affect your weight at all. I have had an underactive thyroid for 35 years and taken thyroxin, the dose varying at times - you should have a blood test every year to check it - and the only reason I have put on weight in the intervening years is because I put too much food into my mouth!
I have been on this forum for the past year - exactly a year tomorrow 😊 - and thanks to healthy eating and calorie counting, I have lost weight and I am now exactly where I want to be and it feels great!
So download the 12 week plan, work out your BMI and how many calories you need, and start on this downward journey.
Good luck!
Hi Amme67 and welcome! this is the place to be for sure. just curious, are you on meds for the under active thyroid? i know they have them here so of course they have them there, perhaps you should talk to your doc? anyway i am sure you have done all that.. silly me! but if you want a new happier way of living, you have found the place! i have my bad days, no doubt, but who doesn't? but this new way of living and eating has given me a place to vent and a place to see i am certainly not alone. by the way, here is Texas and there is wherever you live! chin up doll! i am losing 120 pounds 2 pounds a week til i get down to my slim and trim 155 self. where i am close to where i should be. i recommend starting with lowering your sugar intake and start using smaller plates filled up with mostly veggies. this is working for me and i am starting to love veggies. when i first started 6 or 8 weeks ago, i did not eat many veggies but i sure do now. we can do this, together. read posts and post yourself and your attitude will be good. i was feeling down tonight and decided to read and post and i am better already.. all with no food to back it up! anyway, we can do this is we stick to it!
