Alcohol.
Rant over .

It's not worth the calories, the money, or the angst, Gary
Is there a world shortage of it ?
Gary
Why? Because people are stockpiling?
Need to get hammered in my company .can't just have a few and stop.

I don't think so as he says he's really happy and has such a lot of hobbies he does a radio show goes to the gym has an allotment church football works full-time it's like once he starts he has to have more and more a bit like me if I open a box of chocolates x
I just can't figure out how people don't get that excessive drinking affects everyone around you!
Hope your family improves gman1961 .
That is such a shame for you gman1961
I am fortunate in that Mr B and I have a similar outlook - enjoy a drink, sometimes, but don't feel any event is spoiled if we can't or decide we don't want to. No-one pressures me - but woe betide friends of family if they did!
That said, I attend work functions sometimes, where it seems that some can only "enjoy" themselves if they have excessive amounts of alcohol and miss most of the next day - I don't understand, so just can't relate to it.
Be strong in your own values and beliefs, whatever they may be. It is your body, health and the way you feel about yourself that is what you need to concentrate on. If anyone else is trying to persuade you to do something against that, perhaps a conversation with them during sober times might be a way forward.
Another wonderful rant, love it Gary.
Sorry that you are having to deal with this on holiday. I feel your pain. My twin brother used to think he had to drink everything in sight and it was embarrassing for all. Fortunately since he has had a grandson he has calmed down with it. I hope the rest of your holiday is rant free gman1961
