8 weeks ago I booked a holiday. 8 weeks ago I set myself the challenge of increasing my activity, eating healthily and loosing weight. Have I achieved this...a big fat NO!!! Instead my activity has remained pretty minimal, my eating hasn't changed (it's not exactly unhealthy but there is a lot of room for improvement). And thanks to this afternoons holiday wardrobe trying on session...I am now depressed, annoyed and frustrated with myself πŸ™ so after some time of not checking into hear, I'm back and hoping for some inspiration.

Oh fabfran85 , I don't think you will be the only one who has done this, I know I have. All I can say is, don't let it ruin your holiday. Go away, have a wonderful time and we will still be here when you return and you will get all the support you want to loose that weight before the next holiday.

Hi fabfran85

Welcome back to the weight loss forum, here's a update on what is happening on the forum.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

I've got three weeks to go and I know I can achieve something in that time...I don't want to feel defeated but I just don't know where to start...

just set yourself a mini goal for the next 3 weeks.. something realistic and achievable.. maybe its that you will eat 3 meals a day... or walk 30mins a day... or not have that bar of chocolate everyday. Take baby steps and then when you get back from your holidays set new goals x

Welcome back fabfran85 :)

I see your personal trainer suggested you reduce your carbs (bread, pasta, rice etc) to help you lose weight, this will almost certainly be good advice to follow. Carbs can turn very easily in to sugar which is then turned into fat and stored.

Check out Hidden reply to you again in the same post. There are some very expert people here which we can be very thankful for their advice and time.

I can reccommend joining one of our weekly weigh ins. They are run every day and you'll find everyone is really supportive.

I hope you have a lovely holiday. :)

I've done the same in the past and got very frustrated with myself so I know what you mean. But you've still got three weeks, you can't lose a lot of weight healthily in that time but you can feel a little slimmer and lighter than you do now and that should motivate you to carry on when you get back. Check the online NHS BMI calculator for your calorie range needed to lose weight and aim for the middle of the range (you can tweak up or down after your holiday as needed ) don't be tempted to eat less than recommended or you'll lack energy to keep moving. Add in some excercise, just brisk walking will help. If your holiday clothes are slightly tight they'll feel much better in three weeks as most people lose a few extra pounds of water weight when they first reduce calories. If they are impossible to get on then buy a few inexpensive things from supermarket range so you feel comfortable you can always donate them to charity shops when more weight comes off! Have a lovely holiday ! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Those weeks are in the past. Can't be changed so try to put it in the past in your head. Be kinder to yourself. It's fab to see you here. You're in good hands and everyone is right by your side. When you are ready you can go forward to achieve your own goals. Be realistic and don't look back! 🌸

Thank you! I have screen shot what you have said and am going to look at it every time I feel sad x

Xx🌸. For me, these days.. Feeling sad sometimes is normal... Observe it, it floats in and will float away. I had to learn this. .. Took a while... But worth the learning. . You are wonderful... Believe it. 🌸

Maybe just maybe you've not weighed, counted or measured enough, the small stuff does add up, I found this to be my big failing at times.

I also find it much easier to buy stuff in portion packs, larger lacks service better value, too tempting to ration on tho.

The others here have great advice too

Ahhh, your post could easily have been from my own daughter : she too has booked a holiday and she tells me that last year's holiday clothes are 'a stone too tight' . Like you she's still hoping to shed a couple of pounds.....

As others above have said, we've all been there and you cannot undo what's happened, just treat tomorrow as a new day, and even 1 pound a week will make you feel you can achieve something. Then when you come back, get back on here and we'll all cheer you forwards 😊

Hi fabfran85 - this is SO me! As others have said, don't beat yourself up (it doesn't achieve anything positive!!) and you still have 3 weeks. If you take care of yourself for those 3 weeks, you'll feel so much better - you can really make a significant difference in that time, and just feel BETTER, and then you'll have a great holiday, and this will all be part of the journey.

And whatever happens, have a GREAT HOLIDAY! Enjoy! I do think the nicer we are to ourselves the more likely we are to get somewhere with our goals. :)
