What do you guys think of the low fat subs from subway - turkey breast and ham on brown bread for 290cals? Can it really be that bad or are these completely fine to eat...

That really depends on your reaction to/tolerance of carbs. I wouldn't eat a bread roll but others might. It really is for you to decide. Do you know if there is any sugar or sweeteners in the turkey or ham?

Not sure I am being ever so helpful to you ashortland but I really can't give a definitive answer you have to decide what works for you.

I always think that subways smell nice but I don't eat them - just my preference.

When you say your reaction do you mean how well you lose weight when eating carbs because I think carbs must be my downfall. It felt alright at the time because the calories are low..... but it seems too good to be true

Yes it is about how well I lose weight (or don't) but I also don't feel comfortable if I eat refined carbs. I am fine with carbs in vegetables but I am very conscious of the impact of carbs on insulin and it is not good news. I am not diabetic, or pre diabetic, and I really don't want to be, hence I steer away from carbs and eat lots of healthy fats and moderate amounts of protein. Excess protein is converted to glucose by the body and used in exactly the same way as carbohydrates.

Hope that answers your question. Nutrition seems to be an ever more complex subject, the more you find out the more you want to know - at least that is the way it is for me.
