Sorry it was a bit confusing. I'm 19st 6lb at the moment. On the NHS bmi calculator it says if I get down to 13st 3lb then I'm in the healthy weight range.

Hi scottmccarlie 👋 I have about 7 stone to lose I know how daunting it can feel although starting today will make it quicker than starting tomorrow 😅 Honestly I put it off for far too long! You can do this and I wish you lots of luck along your journey 🍀
Hi Scott and welcome. You have made a good decision to turn your life around. It is a lot of weight to lose and may take a long time. However, I dare say it took a long time to put the weight on so it’s only reasonable that you take a long time to take it off. It is more likely to stay off if you lose it gradually and your new healthy eating habits will become embedded the longer you practice them. Start by implementing small changes as you don’t want to give up at the first hurdle, particularly as you are also stopping smoking. (Well done on that too!)
Break the amount down into small achievable goals, say 7lbs, then reward yourself with a non-food reward for each goal reached. The time is going to pass anyway so you might as well lose one or two pounds a week as you go. Doesn’t matter how long it takes.
Make sure you eat enough, use the NHS BMI checker for your calorie range. Eat at the top of the range to start with and then as you lose weight you can reduce slightly, every 4-6 weeks or so. If you are able, add some exercise. Walking is great. It will improve your mood and serve as a distraction from food and cigarettes.

Cheers for the support, I've lost weight but kept putting it back on! Feel ready to stick too a well planned diet and this website will help loads. I'm going to do my weigh in on a Sunday morning.

Thank you for the support, wasn't to sure if the website will help but I think it will. you mentioned weekly weigh in, were abouts is this on the website? as I can't find it.
On the Home Page on the right hand side under ‘Events’ you will find the daily threads. One is for the daily weigh in, so if you choose Sunday that will be your day to weigh every week. You can’t really change days as it becomes too complicated for the Admins who collate all the stats, so be sure you choose the best day for you. EJ

Hi Scottmcarlie well done for trying to lose weight and give up smoking. I gave up smoking 7 years ago so I know how hard it is. I feel so much better for it I can go to gym without getting out of breath and everything smells and tastes so much better. Yes I put on some weight but thats now coming off gradually because I can exercise. Good luck and keep at it you will feel so much better.
