Hello Cathy27564 and welcome back 😊

You are not alone in comfort eating, there are some helpful tips in this post helpguide.org/articles/diet... Please remember you are more than a number on the scales, you are a warm and wonderful person 😊

I hope you’ve had chance to read all the information Moreless gave you last time, if not then I suggest you have a look at the Welcome Newbies post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

I also strongly recommend becoming involved in the forum, reading posts and replying to others, it’s how you build up the support network. See the What’s Happening thread for all the things going on healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Thanks for sharing the link about emotional eating, IndigoBlue61 - it struck a chord with me and has strengthened my resolve not to guzzle junk at my desk on this dull, drizzly, work-stress Friday.

Cathy27564 I know where you are coming from!

I find one thing that helps me is to have a lovely healthy meal planned for later, with things I like, and promise myself how much I will enjoy it at the right time. I was too early at the supermarket for sushi today, so I bought a falafel salad and a big punnet of cherries, they're now sitting in the office fridge for me at lunchtime.

I like the advice to do something you like doing which isn't eating. At home I have found that I can't really eat while doing housework, gardening, or knitting. Is there something else that can cheer you up other than biscuits or crisps? Maybe a bunch of flowers for yourself that you can enjoy over several days? Can you set up non-food rewards for yourself when you stick to plan? Or even just for every day you don't actually buy biscuits and crisps?

As Indigo says, your weight isn't what defines you. But you are a lovely person who absolutely deserves to eat healthily.

Cathy, I am sorry you feel like this just now. I know that these feelings will pass. You have a wonderful wedding to look forward to, a new outfit and lots of admiring glances from your family and friends. I try to take things day by day, plan what you are going to eat, choose lovely foods that will nourish your body. If you have a bad day, draw a line and move on. In terms of getting active, is there a friend or a group you could join for some gentle stretching or walking. Come on Cathy, you can do it. If people are talking about you, which I doubt they have desperately sad lives. Go for it, come here for support

I’m so sorry that you feel like this Cathy27564. You have made the first (very tricky) step by coming back- be proud of yourself for that and every other thing you do, be it small or large. When I was at my lowest with weight loss and couldn’t see the positives, I watched this, maybe it will help you m.youtube.com/watch?v=KgzLz...

Much love xxx

it has given me a lot to think about so I will start slow as he said set one small challenge and work up slowly thank you for showing me the video and helping me big hugs xx

Aww, Cathy27564 , I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling like this. I can relate to it, I've felt like that too and it's difficult to get out of that cycle. So often, I used to 'cheer myself up' with food, but the thing is, I realised that it didn't actually cheer me up at all, it just made me feel worse. Welcome back to the forum, I hope you can find a way that works for you, and once you make some positive steps, I'm sure that will make you feel a bit better. Good luck.

Cathy, I have binge eating issues and have had for almost 40 years. I have severe arthritis in both knees and a short time ago could only walk a minimal distance with a four wheeled walker. Thanks to a very helpful orthopaedic surgeon who injected my knees with steroid, I was able to gradually start walking up and down the garden leaning on the wall. I take pain killers, use a TENS machine for pain and accept it is going to hurt and now things are getting better. I just want to encourage you by saying that it IS possible. Slow, hard and frustrating, but possible. Good luck. You are not alone. x

Cathy27564, why do you feel everyone is talking about you? Do you talk about everyone else? I’d bet you don’t, so chances are they’re not talking about you. If they were, they could be saying lovely things. I suggest you take a long hard inside look at yourself and find all the lovely things about you. Maybe if you do find something you’re not happy about then change it! We all can make improvements to ourselves anyway. I say these things in love to you, not pointing the finger. Try doing your hair, your make up and putting your best dress on and dance to your favourite music! Life is a remarkable gift so live it with gratitude!

If people do want to be grumpy and nasty, let them, but don’t let them bring you down. It maybe they actually feel bad about themselves need some love and attention. BE WHAT YOU’D LIKE TO BE. stay focussed and feel the love and support from the group 💝😘🙏🏻🌈 good luck x
