Hello BlueB17 and welcome to the NHS weight Loss Forum
Eating properly is far more important for weight loss than exercise so that’s the best place to start. It’s also never too late to improve your health and fitness, and create good habits for life long success. 😊
I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out. If you just post a few words to introduce yourself and respond to others there, you'll soon break the ice. Here's the link

You'll find all the information you need to navigate the forum in the header and a link to the 12 week plan, so please take the time to read it carefully.
Wishing you all the best
Anna
Welcome BlueB17
Exercise can definitely help you towards a healthy lifestyle. The majority of weight loss will come from managing your food intake sensibly.
Lots of great support here so feel free to post any questions, thoughts , feelings etc...
Good luck!
I was 62 when I started to tackle my weight, and like you I was needing to lose 2 stone. Planning and counting what you eat, portion size as well as content, is ( as the others on here are saying) more vital than just exercise, but if you can exercise too it will help your general fitness and your rate of calorie burn. Personally, I chose an hour a day walking for my exercise, but if you can also incorporate strength exercises as well, it will help reduce any saggy bits as the pounds go down.
