Just ordered a set of scales and I am nervous as hell about this new diet.
I'm 22, approximately 18 and a half stone, would like to get down to about 11-12. I work as a full time junior Secretary.
I am in the middle of being diagnosed with some sort of ibs (Inflamed or irritable). I'll be going food shopping on Saturday as the doctor wants me to start changing my diet now.
Basically I'm not allowed milk, bread, pasta and certain fruit and veg.
I have to pick up things like soy milk and gluten free food. The pasta will be my biggest issue, I've always liked pasta salads etc. for work lunches so I have a lot of changes to make.
I recently bought a cross trainer which I hope to get a lot of use of every Saturday and Sunday and maybe two evenings in the week also. I have trouble with my knees and so cannot exercise for very long.
Anyway i hope this forum will help keep me in check and focused on my goal and I hope to help others do the same.
I’m 21, and once upon a time was 17st 4lbs, and now down to 13st 12lbs - I’m aiming for 12 too, so i can relate!
However I can’t imagine how hard it will be with ibs - cutting out pasta may seem awful now but it could be a blessing! I loooove pasta but now have it maybe once every 3 weeks, and it’s fine!
Have a look in out Topic section were there are lots of recipes to give you some ideas for meals.

It may well be that pasta is exactly what is causing your difficulty because of the flour that it is made with.
You can get gluten free pasta but I suggest you only buy one packet as some are better than others, or suit different tastes, and you could waste a lot of money.
Good luck and build up you cross trainer work slowly so that it is sustainable.
i will try the gluten free pasta, it's just so easy to make for work because i don't have much time in the evenings for food prep, i get in at 7 and because i'm up early i go to bed at 9. that gives me two hours to bath, dry my hair, have food, do food for the next days lunch and relax for a bit after work. That's why i'm not going to be going on the cross trainer much in the week because i simply don't have the time. hopefully with the positive diet changes it will be enough.
