I recently joined British Heart Foundation forum having been diagnosed with AF - I know my weight is a Major contributor to my health problems, and since being given my new meds to control my AF I have become even more lethargic - I have to get out of this rut and start living a healthier life or I'm finished.
I am 67, I have battled with my weight most of my adult life - Yo Yo dieting, losing weight then putting it back on again - losing again and putting back on even more - it has to stop - I desperately need help.

Welcome Brummiegal you are so right to kick yo-yo dieting into touch, no good to anyone. Think about a new lifestyle that will be sustainable. You will find lots of people to chat to about this on here.

Hi Brummiegal and a very warm welcome. You have come to the right place. We have all probably been on every diet under the sun, I know I have, but since joining this wonderful community I have ditched the word 'Diet' from my vocabulary and I'm now focusing on becoming healthy and getting fit. Do check your BMI on the HU site to find out how many calories it recommends for you. Then set your calorie allowance at the higher range, then as you begin to lose you can go slightly lower, for optimum weight loss. It feels strange at first eating so many calories but believe me it works.
We are a very friendly community and always here to listen and give encouragement so get involved and you'll soon see the pounds dropping.
Dear Brummiegal, I am 80 yrs old, have Addison's Disease, Temporal Arteris, high blood pressure and am desparate to live long enough to finish my book to my children, called "Children of the Orphanage and Beyond". So there are different desperations. Many years ago I too struggled with weight and found my own secret. Here It is: No Diet Plan. I just eat 3 bites less than being plumb full! I eat what I want when I want. If I over eat I give myself a week to "adjust" in my own way. No pressure just a happy SELF discipline, my own way! Weight came off gradually and has stayed off for 50 yrs! Make your own way and a happy life to you. And May Jehovah God bless you and keep you forever. Dolly
What a lovely post. My favorite words " he will make you strong". I need to keep reminding myself. I like your eating plan too. I cut off some of my bread and give it to our lovely birds in the garden.
