I saw 'How to stay young' last night and was impressed by HIIT, I know some of you do it. Can you please explain or give me a routine, it sounds good. Thank you πŸ‘

Take a look at fitnessblender.com. They have a blog "what is HIIT and how do I use it in my training. They also have lots of free routines.

They have a range of routines including low impact, perfect for those of us that aren't into jumping up and down like mad dogs. Hope you find what your looking for.

Hi Cockneyblue ,

I love the concept of High Intensity Interval Training, and I think you can adapt any activity in that way - for example I often go for cliff-path walks, and I will spend a couple of minutes walking at a leisurely pace and then I will just increase my speed for a minute, then slow back down again. If I'm feeing more energetic, then I might walk fairly quickly and intersperse my walking with a bit of a jog for a minute.

Similarly when I'm at the gym, if I'm on the exercise bike - I'll cycle for 2 minutes at a reasonable pace, and then 'cycle extra hard' for 30 seconds, and I'll keep doing little variations like that - as and when I want to.

The great thing is that you can vary it to suit your own needs, and you can pace yourself, and it's good exercise.

Hope you have a great week.

Zest :-)

Hi Cockneyblue,

My friend showed me a Joe Wicks beginners HIT workout on YouTube. It was easy to follow and you go at your own pace.

I’m sure there are loads out there but nothing wrong with a try πŸ˜€

I do HIIT and find it really works for me, especially because I am time poor. There are some good suggested workouts above. But I would definitely agree with Concerned - get yourself checked out by the docs if you have any doubts. For HIIT to work you need to get your heart rate up. Good luck with it. James

Hi all thank you very much for your advice. I'll check with my GP when I come home from holiday. I've phoned my local gym and will make an appointment to join that also if all is ok with my GP. Thanks again for your support everyone πŸ‘πŸ‘

Have a look at the Bodycoach aka Joe Wicks on Youtube. There is a low impact one - good for weak knees :D I reckon if you did those 3 times it would be more effective that going to a gym :)
