I am 57 suffer with ME/CFS amongst other things and have just recovered from a mini-stroke. I am morbidly obese and need to lower my cholesterol level and lose weight urgently. Unfortunately I have coeliac as well and am dairy intolerant. My ME means that exercising causes me to become beyond tired and I suffer with pain in my joints. Basically I am a walking wreck and am reaching the end of my reserves. I have decided to try the NHS 12 week weight loss programme and hope to get some support from others who are struggling. I feel so low at the moment.

Hi and welcome! Good luck to you!
Welcome and my only advice is to be as involved as you can be to get the best from the forum.. There is nothing else like it!!
Sorry about your health conditions, hopefully loosing some weight will ease up some of the side effects..
Cheering you on 🎉🎉🎉
Hiya, this is a lovely group and I am sure you will connect on here with people who share your conditions and can help you with your journey. I am sorry to hear you've been so poorly. What I'd like to say is, although the diet-and-exercise-industry would have you believe gym membership etc is a good thing for weight loss, it's not the most important thing. Focus on your diet and you will see results. You can exercise later on when you feel up to it. Please don't feel that you have to do everything all together as that can stop you starting - it did for me, for years! - take it day by day and see how you go.
The good news is, dairy free/vegan and gluten free food is becoming more mainstream - last night my vegan son had a pizza I'd spotted in Sainsburys that also happened to be gluten-free. He said it was OK - not as good as home made - but hey, I don't want to cook from scratch every day! Expensive compared to their standard pizzas but as something we don't buy often I don't mind getting it once in a while.
I guess what I'm saying is focus on what you can do rather than what you can't (yet). Otherwise things do become overwhelming. Good luck!
Hi Dawn
First comment on forum. I am 64 and also have high cholesterol, 7 year survivor of ovarian cancer, massive family history of heart problems (already lost 4 brothers, 1 sister and a nephew). I need to lose 3 stone but all my interests involve sitting down. Full of good intentions but need a kick to get going so here I am starting the 12 week plan TODAY!!
I already know everything there is to know bout diet and food 0 it is just the lack of movement that is the problem. I am hoping that I can get myself into a good regime that will work for me. Do not like the gym and I know that I would not go swimming so I have chosen a 15 minute bike ride a day on my exercise bike and a half hour brisk walk per day. Wisjh me luck.
Have you set yourself any targets?
