Hello! I'm new here and ashamed to say that I have 5 stone to lose! 😨 I have the willpower of a wet flannel and promise myself each night, as I look at my great big belly in the mirror, that "Tomorrow I will begin my diet and exercise regime." Then, the next day, I just go straight back to old ways. I've been promising myself for years that I would lose weight. I just sabotage it every time. Hey ho! Maybe this time....
Hi!: Hello! I'm new here and ashamed to... - Weight Loss Support
Hi!
Hi Buntyboo
Welcome to the weight loss forum.
Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance. Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.
Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.
Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.
We have daily weigh in's so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.
You may notice that members have a grey box next to their name, these are achievement badges. All new members have a "newbie" badge to begin with.
Please note if you are using the new HU app it does not have all the forums features on it, so we suggest you use the full website version.
To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.
Have a good first week.
Rose
Buntyboo, you have come to the right place for support, this place is amazing.
If I were you I would ditch all thoughts of a diet and think about changing your lifestyle, one bit at a time.
Make food your friend not your enemy and enjoy your journey.
Come on here regularly and join in the conversations.
Take care and good luck
Thanks, Ceals. I'll give it a go!
Believe you can do it and shout it from the rooftops every time you don't put something in your mouth that you know you would be better off without.
Hi Buntyboo, I am new to this forum and I have to lose 10 stone to be healthy. It seems impossible but I have started walking my cocker spaniel for twenty minutes every morning because my doctor told me I could walk short distances but not exercise. I envy you your 5 stone challenge. I think that joining this forum is a good way of receiving support and hopefully we will both get to the weight we want to be.
Hi! Walking a dog seems to be a really great way to begin exercising- good luck with your journey to fitness! We've talked about getting a dog but I don't think my two cats would like it. I'll have to borrow one!
My cats got used to my dog Tia pretty quickly. I love mine. I can't wait to lose some weight. I have so many aches and pains which should disappear as the weight does. That's my true incentive.
That's what I do. I look after dogs for people on holiday.
We got our pup last year as I knew it would make us walk more; not only do we walk but we've met lots of lovely people who are becoming friends, along with their lovely pooches & we both feel more part of the community we live in x I also invested in a FitBit which is a brilliant tool x all the best, it's a hassle recording everything at first but it soon becomes the norm! Don't beat yourself up - you've taken a big step forward and a little or a lot to lose it all requires the same mindset! Come & have a chat .. we're all in the same boat 🚣
Hi Buntyboo,
I have found that when on a mission to lose weight it is best NOT to look at the bigger picture. Take it in small steps. Like you I promised myself each night to start again tomorrow. It was a fight to keep my motivation going. This last week, with the help and support of this forum, my mind set is changing. I started saying to myself I wasn’t going to wait until tomorrow I was going to start now. I take it one day at a time and one meal at a time. I start the day by promising myself that today I will do the best I can. It is hard, sometimes extremely hard, but I am hoping with practise it will get easier.
Change your promise – promise to eat a healthy breakfast or not to eat crisps – make a promise that is specific and matters to you. You will be amazed at how a small change can make a huge difference.
Good luck.
Cheers, Dd7005! I think I will dig out all my old Slimming World stuff and have a crack at using that. I can't be doing with weighing things and counting calories and the SW stuff is easy to manage - it's more of a healthy eating regime. My trouble is that a) I pick at things in the evenings and b) I hate exercise!
Hi and welcome Buntyboo
The support here is fantastic and we are all going through the same journey, so you are never on your own.
I have received fantastic support from people here, and without it, i would have given up ages ago.
You can do this and i wish you all the best
Good luck!!! If you have hit a wall and truly want to lose weight you can. Just one day at a time.
Hi Buntyboo welcome to the forum. There are a few of us in the same boat as you. I have quite a bit still to lose. So far lost almost three and I hope to lose another two before Christmas. So make the most of the support and advice you get on here and in no time you will notice your health improve. Good luck on your journey
I have 7 stone to lose and have just begun to realise the enormity of the task, so easy to eat, drink and be merry and let the weight slide on for donkeys years but very hard to begin to take it off, got to do something now though, can't even walk up the stairs without struggling, time to change for health reasons more than anything, am going to give it a good go
