Hi, this is my first post. I tried SW last year and was successful in losing nearly two stone. I felt good about myself and had bought new clothes to compliment my weight loss, but my heart wasn't in it. Once I had achieved it, old habits started to creep back in. I know I am an emotional eater and so I find it very difficult to keep up with the healthy eating plan. I know that I felt better, looked better but now I'm virtually back to the weight I started and am finding it very difficult to find the motivation to start again. So, my challenge is to actually get started, which I am hoping with the help of this forum, I will achieve.

Hi krpool

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

There is lots of support here on the forum to help you stay on track. Feel free to join in with any of the Daily Diary's in Events or the challenges that are in the Pinned post section. Today weigh in can be found in Events so why not come and join us.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Rose

Hi the problem with diets like SW is that as soon as you start eating normally again the weight creeps back on as you have found. Take the word 'diet' out of your vocabularly and replace it with 'healthy eating'. This is sustainable and becomes a way of life after a while. It doesn't mean you can't have treats such as chocolate, cake, biscuits etc. as you can build them in your eating. Don't forget that even thin people eat crap occasionally. Good luck. x

Welcome krpool !! Lots of support and friendly advice here. I too had tried many, many ways to lose weight from the age of 9 to the age of 49... when I realised that the only way to achieve a weight loss and maintain it was good old calorie counting and keeping a food diary.

Very time consuming, might be seen as boring, but it worked! It's a bit like brushing your teeth. It's not exciting, but we all need to do it routinely if we want to keep our chompers!

Here are a few of my past posts which I hope you will find helpful and inspiring.

I won't try and tell you that my journey was easy - you'll see there were many blips along the way, but 5 years down the line, I feel about 20 years younger than I did when I was lugging around 4 stone more.

Please do pop back to the forums and share your journey with us - we are here for you, day and night and happy to share your success or support you when you need it.

Wishing you all the best on your weight loss journey Rose has given you some great advice

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker (a link to this can be found in the Welcome Newbies thread ) to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊
