I am 58 y o and need to lose 5 st. I have tried everything with little or no success. I find it so difficult to stick to a very strict diet like Cambridge or lighter life. I have had success on them before but it's worthless its only a challenge. You take it you succeed snd then the weight comes back on. I cant to it again, have now joined weight watchers again (i have failed before) let's hope for the best,

I know where you are coming from as I've been there, done that and have lots of T-shirts but since joining this forum it different. You have plenty of support and lots of motivation in the challenges. I'm 57 and just lost over 5st by following the nhs 12 week plan so it can be done.
Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.
Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.
Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.
Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.
We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.
To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.
The main thing about these kind of meal replacement diets is that you are never educated into learning or adopting new ways of eating. So you lose the weight and you go back to eating the way you ate previously which was how you because overweight in the first place!
There is no quick and easy way to lose weight and successfully in my opinion. If there was a way, someone out there would be very rich and there wouldn't be any overweight people!
Many of us in the western world eat far too much and don't move enough - food is all around us. In TV adverts, food being sold all around us when we leave the house, fast food outlets, takeaways....
But the good news is - it is never too late to start! I managed to successfully lose 4.5 stone and started when I was 49 years old. It took two years to get to my goal weight, but there had been many attempts before that - I've been overweight since the age of 9.
Sadly in the end, it was good old fashioned calorie counting and logging everything I ate that worked for me. Yes, it is laborious, but the longer I have done it for, the easier it becomes. It's just a part of my daily routine now, a bit like brushing my teeth each day.
Here are a few of my past posts which I hope you will find helpful and inspiring? I won't try and tell you that my journey was easy - there were many blips along the way, but 5 years down the line, I feel about 20 years younger than I did when I was lugging around 4 stone more.
Please do pop back to the forums and share your journey with us - we are here for you, day and night and happy to share your success or support you when you need it.
