Hi I'm Andria .I joined on Monday after GP check up. My mistake was not having scales at home so the weight crept on without realising just how much. I have successfully lost weight on Slimming World but I think at my age of 46 my metabolism is changing.
I have found this so easy because it's good old calorie counting. Nothing has "syns" so it feels like there are no banned foods. I've eaten smaller amounts but more regular. I be treated myself to something each day as I have been within my calorie intake. It's made me adjust portions too which is no bad thing. Sneaky five day weigh in shows 4lb loss already. I've stepped up my power walking , I live on coast so have lovely promenade to walk along. With packaging as it is it's so easy to count calories than it used to be. Three stone loss would be good, I'll get there! 😄

Good morning, welcome to the forum. I'm sure one of the admin will pop along & give you more information soon.
I'm 45 & know exactly what you mean about your metabolism changing.
I've been calorie counting since 19th June & have lost 5.5 kg since them.
Have you checked out the NHS BMI checker on the NHS 12 week plan website? It give you a range on calories you can eat & still lose weight. It is much more generous than my Fitness Pal's allowance.
Good luck & as we like to say here onwards & downwards 😀
Wow you have done well! I have looked at the BMI calculator and yes I am keeping to my personal limit. It sounds daft but even filling in the diary sheets is keeping me on track! The web page calorie checker is easy and another go to tool. I even had a costa cappuccino in my allowance yesterday 😀
I have managed to eat at the food & drink I normally eat & even been away for a weekend . I also write down every thing I eat & drink & I do think it keeps me focused too.
Yes I write everything down. It's easy to forget everything that I've eaten and the quantity otherwise. I'm a little confused about where to sign on for my first weigh on but the administration will help me out I'm sure!
You can pick any day of the week to be your weigh in day . Each day a new weigh in thread is posted so you can pick the day you want & then post away. They like you to put your starting weight on the 1st time you post but from then on you only need to say how you have done that week 😀
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Make sure to enter your details into the NHS BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Hi I can't seem to find the events thread, my first week ends tomorrow. Is it best to just post weight on the Monday when I begin a new sheet or tomorrow when I complete the final section?
A cheery hello from the forum. You're doing great so just keep doing it!! If you're finding counting calories a chore try downloading an app. I've a simple free one called track. You might find it helps.
Just so you know how to find the weigh ins in case you haven't found them, firstly click on the home section near the top of the page. This then enters you into the whole home page. Then where you normally see topics, posts etc on the right hand side of the page near people's replies, this is where you will see the Events section and inside here is where the weigh ins are. You may have already found this by now but if you haven't hope this helps you.
Hi Andria and welcome to the forum. It's a great place to find lots of help, new ideas and to make new friends. You're already off to a great start so good luck with your first weigh in and your new journey.
