Hi BOB4

Welcome to the weight loss froum.

Have a look at the Daily Diary to get some ideas of a healthy daily plan and for more support to get you started.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Rose

Hi there BOB4 sorry to hear about the health worries this is now giving you and hope you manage to get some help from your family. I would like to make sure you are aware of the issues I had when I first joined so you don't also make these same mistakes. When I first joined I wasn't able to lose any weight just like I hadn't with many other diets that I had done. Even when I had lost weight I never lost much before I stopped losing any more. I found out on here that the reason this was happening was because I never seemed to eat enough calories in the first place because I was always thinking I had to eat as little as possible to be able to lose weight. Most of the time I only ate around 1000cals a day. I was advised to check how many calories I should be having every day on the NHS bmi calculator as it gives you two amounts you should eat between to be able to lose weight. You shouldn't eat any less than this amount, so where I had only been eating 1000cals it was not enough for my body to continue properly and it always thought I was starving it. This made my body turn everything I ate into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes puts weight on us instead. Please don't make this same mistake as it caused me problems for years and I am so glad I managed to find out about this. Many of us make this same mistake and I have since managed to lose 2 1/2st.

You have us here. Give it a try. We have lots of good advice to give based on experience. Hope you stick with us. Welcome!!!
