Hello AmandaB71 and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum

Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you. Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page. And if you just want to chat, to say hello or share any news or struggles then look out for What's Happening Today thread.

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask

Good luck! my first day too!! :) I have created a little daily calorie counter spreadsheet so I can keep track of everything. Im on 631 kcal at the moment and feel fine!

How are you getting on?

Hi. your daily calorie counter sounds great. I'm going to look for an app on my phone so can keep track of calorie intake as i go.

I am having a wee nosey at the site while at work! Everyone seems nice! I have been following SW for what feels like forever, I have lost a good wee amount but feel I just need to do things differently. Time for a change. Even gonna go to the gym tonight... make some use of that membership lol

Hi AmandaB71 no need to feel nervous I only joined here 2 weeks ago & ive had some very helpful words of advice & encouragement from people who are all in the same boat. It's a lovely place to come & be in touch with lots of lovely people all on the same journey so I wish you well on yours 😁

Morning Everyone!

Day one ended with 1179 kcals - I should be eating around 1800 a day. Is it ok to save calories for the weekend??

I went to bed last night not feeling hungry which is good. I think it will take a little time to get my head round the calorie thing.. I could have had a biscuit easily yesterday with the calorie short fall haha! But I didn't feel I had done without.

Good thought there on the biscuit. Not "I shouldn't have it but I really want it". Instead it was more a "Don't really need it - so I won't". High five :D

Me again! Day 2 ended with 1421.. I went for a cuppy and blether with friends last night and didn't get cake! Go me!! I had my dinner before I felt and didn't feel hungry. Surely I should loose extra for just saying no, right?! LOL

Here is my food from yesterday..

Thursday

2 x boiled eggs - 138

1 skinny latte - 107

1 asda salad box - 169

3 crackers - 57

60g philly light - 84

pineapple bag - 48

apple bag - 48

watermelon bag - 23

Chicken dinner slimzone - 283

Broccoli and cheese -250

2 x skinny latte - 214

Total - 1421

Normally on a Friday I eat out at lunch time but I have brought my lunch with me. I have some lovely chilli beef for dinner tonight with pitta bread and salad so I am looking forward to that! The kids are having a pizza party with friends.. I will not cave!! To be fair I don't like pizza but the cheese.. oh my!! haha!
