Got through the first day...

I've made it through my first day! This is a major achievement for me as I usually don't make it through the first morning. Its very hard to resist all the goodies on offer at work. I have been known to go on the odd filing cabinet forage. Being a part of this community is a huge encouragement.

Hi Treecle!

I agree, this is an amazing site - I doubt very much that I would have done as well as I have with out this site and its amazing people!

Good luck!

Hi Elaine 16, I've just got through day 2 too, somehow it doesn't feel such a lonely path as I know everyone on the forum is rooting for us all to achieve our goals. Good luck with your journey.

Welcome and feel free to join us on the Monday weigh in thread usually started by Lowcal, at work I often look at the people on the row with the cake/treats I do sometimes have something but weight wise I have been like them and don't want to go back there!

Hi Prin, thanks for the invite to your weigh in thread, I'll definitely be there on Monday. Managed to avoid the filing cabinet fodder again today.

Well done for making it through your first day. The first of many steps toward a new healthier you. I used to be like you at work and it wasn't easy in the beginning, but I never gave into temptation. Sounds of people crunching crisps or sweet wrappers opening or just people enjoying those lovely treats being brought in for the team were all hard to see and listen to. I used to get up and go to the loo just to get out of there and focus my mind. I don't even give it a second thought now. I have my own packed lunch full of yummy good healthy choices and that works for me. It gets easier the longer you stick to it. Each day you will be tested, but believe in you and you will succeed.

Good luck Treecle :-)

Hi Trafford1, thanks for your reply and very kind, encouraging words. I know it will become easier with time to avoid the office trough. I have shared my aim to lose weight with some colleagues and they have been extremely supportive. I've told so many people about this forum and some have even asked how they can join. I'm trying to change my mind set about food, as you say everyday there will be moments where my resolve is tested, but each time I don't give into temptation I become a little stronger and more determined.

Hi treecie and welcome.....this is a great forum..do you have a plan?

Hi Portlandprincess, thanks for your reply. I do have a plan, I am following the NHS 12 week programne initially, sticking to a 1400 calorie a day limit most days. My goal is to lose 5.5 stones over 10 to 12 months. I plan all my meals in advance, always have a healthy, filling breakfast and ensure I have a few snacks available in case I get peckish and feel the need to reach for a snickers bar. I've started swimming 3 times a week. How is your plan working out for you?

I'm using the BMI and having the lowest end of scale ...ie was fifteen stone and could have 1600cals...it works for me as I've burnt off ten pounds in nearly six weeks...weigh in tomorrow. Love posting and reading posts ....keeps me in the zone....also walk loads as I worry about my knees.

Keep talking to people who are keen to listen and even keener to help. You can do it.

Hi Dave, thanks for your reply. I'm really fortunate in that my family and friends are extremely supportive of my desire to change my relationship with food and live a healthier life.

Hi Treacle. Home and hosed! Use the site for shared experiences, there will always be someone who has experienced exactly the same, had suffered in the same way and has come out the other side achieving exactly what you desire. Good luck.
