Well done you! I lost three stone in six months on the 5:2 Diet youtu.be/W9Aj6hRYg4A and now maintain my weight loss by just 'fasting' (up to 500 calories) one day a week and running three times a week. I've been a size 10 now since April 2013.

I bless 5:2 and Couch to 5k daily!

Hi Yvonne

I'm one week into my diet and have a similar amount to lose. Well done on taking the plunge and well done with the 1st of the Counch to5K. I did that quite a few years ago and really got into it. (Sadly the hip won't take it these days) - It's such a buzz though and I so wish I could do it again. Really hope you take to it like I did. I've found the support on here really helpful & inspiring. It's so good to realise that we're not alone on this journey.

All the best

Ruth

Feeling motivated at moment and hope by doing this 12 week initial plan I will make some progress to my loss, really want to get there before my 50th - 18 months to go! Out for next run tomorrow and yes although tough did get a buzz afterwards! Hope your week going well, sorry to hear about your hip are you ok with swimming? It hard fitting exercise in isn't it ?!

Hi Yvonne

I'm also facing the big 50 soon - ish. I've got several mates who get there before me but I'm aware that the next big set of milestone parties are about to arrive and I really don't want to be this size for them - but of course mainly for me.

I'm all up for jollying along. I've not managed longer than a week on a diet for ages before coming on here and getting some support. Ok it's only 10 days so far but... little steps. I've been using the 'myfitnesspal' food diary to track my calories which I find really good. I'm also impressed by the fact that you can put in your own recipes and it will calculate not only the calories but all the nutritional info as well. On top of that ... it's free. Which for me is great.

Really hope day 2 of the C25K goes well. Maybe I'll look it up again and see if I can have another go. I'm looking after a friends dog for the next 3 weeks so at least I'll be doing some walking. I'll try and make it nice and brisk which should help. I used to love swimming but I'm soooo lazy these days. I also have very little spare money so free stuff is always good for me.

Hope you've had a good day and you're buzzing from day 2's run.

All the best

Ruth

Hello Ruth

Lovely to hear from you and nice to have someone at the same stage (well I'm 3 days !!) and same age, you sort of feel that you must give it a good go now before get to 50 because I think it will be a lot harder as we get older! I did day 2! Wasn't looking forward to it but had iPod in one ear with fast pace running music and iPhone in my other ear with the lady telling me when to run and walk !did make it a bit easier and felt like I was soon home, it certainly gives you a buzz afterwards but thighs burning !!

I too have been using the my fitness pal app but just usually add calories will have to look at adding recipes , it makes me smile when it tells me what I could weigh if eat this amount for next 4weeks!!

That's good that you are dog sitting a great reason to get out every day and every little helps, my neighbour has just lost 2 stone for doing a 2 mile walk twice a day and not having potatoes of pasta during the week, at weekend she has some and a few beers or wine !

Well another day over and we have stuck too it so let's carry on together - we will do it !!! :) x

Hi Ruth , lost our last email trail ! Hope you have a good weekend, enjoyed the wedding erection last night. , didn't over indulge to much...and did have a good boogie, back on track today and I even did my first run in week 2 of c25k unfortunately Bertha was chasing me and I got soaked !!! But pleased with myself for doing it, actually it was quite liberating running in the rain ! First weigh in tomorrow, hoping for at least 2lb! Here's to a good week ahead for us
