Feeling a little mixed

It's weird o'clock, I know, but I'm feeling a little strange.

Gotten back home after being away for so long and obviously, I've gained a lot more than I have before. My family were shocked to say the least but I feel like my mum is really getting at me.

I obviously feel so crappy myself anyway, but she seems to add to it a lot more...makes me feel less worthy of love and affection. But I know it's helping me to love myself more, accept my body as it is now and slowly, but surely, improve and manage it.

Eh, I don't know. On the plus side! I've started making positive changes with my life (But I'm still craving Pringles every day of my life!)

If I manage to loose at least a kg, I'll get a tub of Pringles, but I'm hoping my food palate and taste buds have been reset and I'll end up craving carrots instead.

Anywhooo, if anyone is going to start the Couch to 5K let me know! I'm looking forward to start it up again but kind of not...running isn't as appealing as it used to be.

Thanks for letting me rant x

Morning PurpleRain1

Things always look their wrose in the middle of the night, try not to be too down on yourself. Being on the forum is your first big step to a healthy and fitter you. I think your mum is just trying to help you with losing your weight but it may not be coming across that well as your not feeling good about yourself at the moment.

Today a new day start afresh make your daily plan on what you are going to eat within your calorie allowance and plan some type of exercise like going for a long walk or bike ride. Why not go and have a look at the Daily Diary in Events to see how other members are doing it. Try not to reward yourself with food as that will not help you lose and all your hard work will be for nothing. Reward your achievements with maybe a new hairdo, shoes or trip out for the day but never food!

Hope you have a good day.

Rose

PurpleRain1 join in with the daily diary and this will give you help and support and know that there are others all trying :) Great place to get meal ideas as well :) Download the 12 week plan and start at day one and once you have completed the whole week treat yourself with a non food reward :) A new top, Cd or book :)

I am sure your mum thinks she is being supportive ;) - why don't you try and sit down with her with the week 1 plan of the NHS 12 week plan and show her you are trying to eat healthy and exercise and at least that way she will be able to encourage you with your meal choices :)

Wishing you all the best on your journey :)

I have the My Fitness Pal app and I'm controlling my carb intake and increasing my protein intake which is sort of the same thing as the 12 week plan but a little more mobile and easy for me.

I will have to have a conversation with her and see if we can change and help each other more than anything!

Thank you!

It's really difficult I know when parents make comments about your weight. I've had that for years from my dad, and at some point I just had to sit down and tell him that it's not acceptable.

(Of course, now I just get annoyed because I know he's thinking it !!)

I do have to remind myself that they are only doing it because they care - but that doesn't mean they should go about it the wrong way :-)

Just remember that if you could make some changes over just a couple of weeks, start eating healthy, start up the C25k programme, you will so quickly feel better about yourself, and hopefully that positive feeling will rub off on your mum as well :-)

Hi I don't know why loved ones think that criticising you will give you more confidence to lose the weight. In fact it's quite the opposite isn't it? Tell your mum that she needs to support and help you and that criticism is making you feel worse about yourself. No one is ever 'shamed' to give up any bad habits by nagging.

This sounds more about your mothers needs rather than yours so try not to let it sap your confidence. You have us here and we will always support and help you all the way.

Now get back in the groove as you can do this. :)

It's so true! I will have to, because it is constant nagging and such. It's such an...inconvenience if anything?

Thank you so much! This forum always amazes me with the support.

My mother nagged me all my life and I used to say to her that has never worked so try another approach. She never got it bless her.

Aw purple rain,

Criticism definitely won't help at all.

At least you are making positive changes and that's all anyone can do.

Today is your new day good luck and don't let anyone get you down

Hi, my mum has made me feel bad about my weight all my life, yes even when I was a small child. I have spent my whole life believing her love is inversely proportional to the size of my arse. Last week in despair I began meal replacement shakes, they satisfy my sweet tooth, require little preparation, but more to the point, the high protein content keeps me full for a few hours. I am always hungry and preparing food, waiting for it to cook is agony. I don't often crave savoury treats, my 'pringles' is chocolate, a binge will be x4 bounty bars, x4 wisps and maybe even a couple of mars bars, I stop when the chocolate runs out. Well the advice on here was 'don't go shopping when you are hungry' if only huh? Tomorrow is my weigh-in to see if this is working , guess losing weight is complex because each of us has an individual set of reasons for our weight and relationship with food, often complex and deeply emotional. Please feel free to rant if it helps, I will listen whenever you need an ear. Take care xx

I was the same to be honest. My mom loves me but still, it's so uninspiring you know?

Oh dear, don't start the shakes! I heard that they aren't very healthy for you. I've started something new recently where I'm only allowed 60 grams of carbs a day. If anything, I really REALLY watch what I'm eating and include so much more protein and salad. You could join me on it?

My Fitness Pal really helps me out.

Ohhhh gosh, my binge is most definitely a large peri peri chips or a tub of Pringles with a juice of some sort. It's so badddd, but I haven't given in yet! I'm actually enjoying the experimenting of all the different combinations of food I can have.

I've lost 1.4 kg so far! I'm so happy with myself. Do let me know how your weigh-in went...I'm wishing the very best for you!!

Thank you so much for your response xx

I got a 4lb loss without the hunger or cravings so I am very pleased this week. I am going to Scarborough for a couple of days but don't know how I will cope. Any suggestions around dieting without the hunger would be welcome, I lost over four stone going to a slimming club but could not maintain it because I was ravenous 24/7. I would happily have surgery and eat through a straw for the rest of my life if only I could switch off my appetite. Nobody understands.
