Fed up!
Hi and welcome - this is a great place for help and support
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you 😊
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news 😊
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker nhs.uk/tools/pages/healthyw... to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page 😊 We also have a daily diary section which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊
Hi, thank you for the advice. I've downloaded the NHS 12 week plan app so I'll use that along with this site 😀

Are you even eating enough calories to actually lose weight. When I first joined I found out this was my problem because I was only eating around 1000 Cals a day. The problem is to actually lose weight you have to eat at least the amount of Cals advised to yourself by the NHS bmi calculator as this gives you personal amounts to eat between to lose weight and not average amounts as many other sites gives you. Also by not eating enough your body thinks you are starving it so turns what you do eat into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so you don't tend to lose weight and tend to put weight on sometimes instead. Do make sure you check how many you should be having as I made this mistake for years and never lost weight on any diets I did. Now I have lost 2st since I started eating between these amounts. Good luck with your journey.
Well done, that's brilliant. I've done the BMI calculations and know the calories in meant to have. I've never calorie counted before, hopefully it will work for me.
By calorie counting you don't have to give anything up - I admit it was a struggle at first as I had never calorie counted before either
What I did was weigh everything and work out the calories and then put it in a spread sheet so I could just weigh the food and work out the calories from my spread sheet rather than looking them up all the time (for my regular foods and within 2 weeks had a good selection)
I also went through the freezer and for say hash browns the packet state how many calories for 3 hash browns - so I put all the contents of my freezer into a spreadsheet - so now I can dig out 3 hash brown and cook them and just check the spreadsheet when i am ready to log the calories for the meal I am eating
Hope this gives you some ideas to help with calorie counting
Wishing you all the best on your journey
That makes a lot of sense. Thank you
