Hi gsmith97
Welcome to the weight loss forum.
Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.
Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.
Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.
Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.
We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.
To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.
Have a good first week.

Glad your making progress, and finding out what suits your needs and condition.
I'm doing alright - slow but steady at the moment, so long term looking positive. I was diagnosed with pcos 20+ years ago!! My mum had diabetes so I cooked everything low GI for her benefit and we ate the same, I've never changed back!
Keep in touch ๐๐ป
Hi, I am in the same boat! I have poor health and exercising only aggravates my joints and back. However, if you set yourself a goal, even small ones it makes you feel good when you achieve it! Mine is a dress that I bought for a wedding in July, it fits but shows all my lumps and bumps so I am really trying hard for a better fit! My long term goal is to lose three stones this year. Hope this has helped a little.
When I first joined I wasn't eating enough calories and was only eating around 1000 Cals a day. It was actually this that was my problem. Make sure you check how many calories a day you should have on the NHS bmi calculator as this takes everything into consideration before giving you an amount to eat to actually lose weight whereas the other sites tend to just give out average amounts that is the same for everyone. If you don't eat enough calories your body thinks you are starving it and turns what you do eat into body fat instead and this weighs more than eating the extra calories would so stops you from losing weight and sometimes means you put weight on because of the extra fat produced. When I found out how many I should have on the calculator I upped my calories to the right amount and started to lose weight immediately and have now lost a lot of the fat and become firmer and have now lost 2st altogether. Please don't make this same mistake. Good luck with your journey.
