Not losing weight!! ☹
First off, ignore BMI. if you are athletic then it is no gauge of anything. Second I assume you mean 1200 cals/day not 12,000. At 12 thousand calories a day the answer would be pretty straightforward.
What are you actually doing during your gym sessions, and what are you actually eating? 1200 cals does not sound very much for your size and activity level. Your body is quite possibly going into starvation mode and hanging on to as much adipose tissue as possible. It may well be that you need to eat more, but of different stuff. And look at what your gym work is - 5 days a week of mid level cardio is something your body will simply adapt too for example. Do you do resistance work? I personally find that lifting heavy and cutting carbs always stimulates fatloss.
Hi AbbiL
Welcome to the weight loss forum.
1200 calories is too low so you need to increse your calories at a minimum of 1400.
Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily allowance.
Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.
Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.
Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.
We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.
To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.
Have a good first week.

I agree with rignold look at the bigger picture muscle mass body fat % as well as that will show changes overall ... I have a friend who is an ultra marathon runner has a less than 10% body fat percentage buys is still classed as obese according to BMi as it is purely a height weight ratio and as his muscle weighs more you can see why .... does sound like you need to take in some more calories as well to avoid your body going into starvation mode ... good luck!
I am the same - 4 years now - I am active - i go to body pump, yoga, spin, I run - (even half marathons) I try out other classes like body combat etc and if not in classes I go for walks to get my 10k steps instead. I am 5ft8 and current weigh 79kg. At Christmas I weighed 81kg - i cant loose any more weight.... I fluctuate between 79kg and 78.4kg. I eat really healthy - I recently gave up breads no change...I have been to the GP twice in the passed 4 years to voice my concerns - nothing - i haven't been for a couple of years now - it does worry me lots. I am 42 yrs old. Help??? I really am frustrated as I see people less active or healthy losing weight - What should I do?
Hello Watton and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum
As has been suggested above exercise alone does not make you lose weight, only having a calorie deficit will do that. So it's a question of eating differently.
Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask
Best wishes
Anna
If you don't eat enough your body goes into starvation mode and this means your body turns what you do eat into body fat to ensure it has enough in it to keep going. Fat weighs more than eating the extra calories would so therefore you are not helping yourself. I also made this mistake before I joined here as I was only eating around 1000 Cals a day and never lost weight and sometimes was adding weight onto myself with the occasional extra weight of the fat. When I realised this information I started eating somewhere between the amount advised by the bmi calculator and now I have managed to lose 2 stone. Do make sure you check how much you should be eating every now and then as the amounts do change gradually as you lose weight. Good luck with your journey.
