Water fasting

Hi,

I am an 18 year old student and I am currently overweight with a BMI of 26.2 (1.97cm height and 101 kg weight). So basically I was wondering whether a water fast would be a sensible idea in order to detox and cleanse internally, externally and reducing the weight and the fat on my body. Any recommendations?

Hi siwyleo

Welcome to the weight loss forum. There is no quick way to lose weight if you are wanting to lose weight I would recommend you follow the nhs 12 week plan.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

"There is no quick way to lose weight" yes there is FFS it's called water fasting. Following the government "NHS" on most things will see you in bad health and up to the eyeballs in medication.

If the original poster does a water fast it will help them mentally and physically. Why the hell is everyone against doing the right thing and learning the right thing to do.

I wouldn't recommend it. Of course if you only drink water you will lose weight rapidly but not in a sustainable way. And when you start eating again, you will gain the whole thing again and maybe more. That's the beginning of life as a yoyo dieter. I suggest you read this piece of information by a nutritionist about the myth of detoxing nhs.uk/Livewell/tiredness-a... and after that you download the NHS 12 week plan and give it a go. It is healthy, efficient and sustainable nhs.uk/LiveWell/weight-loss...

you are talking nonsense. Hands down you are one of these yo-yo dieters how about the DoDo lifestyle (check it out before you ramble on with a horrific reply.

If our bodies really needed detoxing siwyleo , I think most of us would have been poisoned off long ago! Sadly as Rose says, there is no shortcut to losing weight, but if you are serious about it, then you're in the right place. There's not much that people on this forum don't know about weight loss ( we don't do dieting here, we do healthy eating weight loss regimes, sustainable for life😄). So follow Rose's advice and start on your journey, join the rest of us and we will support you all we can.

Toxins in the body are removed by the liver (and to an extent, the skin). Assuming those organs are functioning you have no need to 'detox'. Drinking a sensible amount of water a day is both necessary and beneficial to health and weight control. Drinking more than a sensible amount serves no purpose. You can't flush out fat. Or toxins.

You can however follow a sensible nutrition and exercise plan, and this is a great place to get advice on that.

Wish you every success.
