Hi and welcome @RannaB

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you 😊

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news 😊

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker nhs.uk/tools/pages/healthyw... to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page 😊 We also have a daily diary section which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's :)

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask 😊

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too 😊

Morning @RannaB

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

As we only deal with weight loss on this forum I am giving you a link to a forum called "Depression Support" also in Helathunlocked. The link is healthunlocked.com/depressi... hope this can help you.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Thank you for the link. However I really do need to lose weight. My husband was worried about me last night because of the way I was breathing. I've done various diets and weight loss aids just to lose motivation because it takes time for the weight to come off. I did lose 3st with slimming world but due to working shifts it wasn't easy to attend and you have to pay double if you miss a week. Then with my depression I comfort ate so I piled it on. I'm just looking for support and maybe educating on how to eat healthy and lose weight and not be prevented from eating certain food groups and types of food. I've started going to the gym 3 times a week and I really enjoy working out. So hopefully I can team the exercise up with losing the weight.

Maybe a trip to your GP is needed if you are having trouble with your breathing just to get it checked out.

The 12 week nhs plan works really well, I myself have lost just over 5st with following it, so it can be done. Have a look at the Daily Diary to see what other members are eating to give you an idea of the kinds of food we are all having.

Welcome to the forum. I am losing weight for my wedding despite the fact that my fiancé and I haven't set a date for our wedding yet. I am currently following Slimming World but weighing in at my mum's house instead of going to the meetings because I am in the process of moving and saving for my wedding. I have lost 7 1/2lbs in the last 5 weeks. I love the forum and I appreciate the support that I get from other forum members as well as family and friends.

Thanks for making me feel so welcome. I've never done this before but nothing ventured nothing gained. Plus because it's the NHS I don't feel like I'm being sold something.
